My name is Michael and I am looking to start GM’ing
ShadowRun 5 th edition on Sundays, 5pm to 9pm PST. Never played? Well, that’s perfect; we will
learn/relearn the system together. Familiar
with the system and want to get into a game? That too is perfect (hey, I don’t remember
everything). Have a passing knowledge of
the game, you’re welcome too (wow, I was not expecting you to do that!). What is ShadowRun? From Wikipedia:
“Shadowrun is a
science fantasy tabletop role-playing game set in a near-future fictional
universe in which cybernetics, magic and fantasy creatures co-exist. It
combines genres of cyberpunk, urban fantasy and crime, with occasional elements
of conspiracy, horror and detective fiction.”
I like to GM players who are willing to play 3-dimensional
characters. What do I mean by 3-dimensional? Characters who have flaws and are not perfect
at everything they do and make mistakes.
Characters who are not min/maxed to get the ‘best’ out of the rules. Characters who exhibit emotion (other than cold
blooded) when the time is appropriate. I
have several preferences which I will list:
1.There will be sexual and criminal themes so 18+
only. It will not be erotic, but if a
character ends up prostituting themselves out to fulfill the run requirements,
then I want them to be able to do so. If
a character ends up shooting a bag of nova-coke and inhales the contents on “accident”,
this should be allowed to happen (and experience the consequences of said
actions). This does not mean sex acts
will be fully explained or acted out, but rated “R” language and themes will be
used.
2.I want characters who can work with other
characters. My GM’ing style is narrative
based on the actions of the characters.
I have lost many characters (not players) because 2 or more characters
did not get along. I will sit back and
let the characters role-play out their disagreement and if that ends in a “shoot
out at the OK corral”, I will not stop it.
It is up to the characters (and players who control the characters) to
work out their issues.
Requirements:
1.Have fun.
Players who join will be doing so in an attempt to have fun and enjoy
role-playing in a world that will not care about their character. Know that just by existing, your character is
a criminal; this does not make you a bad guy/gal, just makes you wanted by
authority figures who may want to sell your internal organs for a profit.
2.Remember, what a character does or does not do is
not what a player would or would not do.
I encourage couples to join, but if one of the characters (not players)
sleeps around, the other player needs to understand that it is the ‘CHARACTER’
not the player sleeping around.
Sorry if these preferences/requirements seem to be weird, I am
a fairly experienced GM and I find that stating these at the outset really
helps.
Note, if you do not know anything about ShadowRun but still
want to play, I can make you a character to play. Generally speaking, the following archtypes
are used: Street Samurai (aka gun bunny,
muscle, chrome dome), Mage (aka hermetic, shaman), Decker (aka geek, computer
nerd), Face (aka social manipulator), Rigger (aka toyman, driver), Adept (aka
mystical monk, close combat expert, sneak).
These are generic labels as, like real people, characters perform
different tasks and sometimes not the best person for a task is chosen to
perform said task.
