(Interest check) D20 Future campaign Saturdays UK based

I'm thinking of putting together a Sci-fi D20 campaign and was trying to guage interest. It's going to include starships, exploration, Mecha etc.
Yeah, sounds pretty fun.
a few more details Earth has expanded it reach far beyond the solar system with jump gate technology and after the great stellar war a new emphasis on exploration has begun. The PCs are stationed on a construction cruiser that is responsible for building new jump gates but their latest job has brought them into contact with something unexpected.
At this point, I'll jump on anything seeing how hard it is to find a game in our timezone. Count me in.
Ok that's two. I'm world building at the moment whilst waiting for players. I'll keep bumping.

I'm an American player but I tend to be up late (or early). Is the game horror based in this 'unexpected' encounter or just something sci-fi and alien? I'm totally down with a horror situation where like the ship comes undersiege by some alien 'plant' or something that like shuts the thing down and we have to try and get the ship running again while avoiding being noticed by what ever the hell is killing all the crew. Getting help from the AI would be awesome to Roleplay Have the group be like Space Marine, Scientist, Engineer and then something else that is sort of critical to long time living in space (like a bioengineer for hydroponics system or a FTL navigator, something that is crucial to us when the ship is back in operation that would be a very bad thing to lose during the siege or what ever it would be)
So how colossal are the ships? Like a crew of a couple hundred/thousand/small city scale?
I can't say for sure but based on the idea that the ship is constantly in space placing and constructing these jump gates it would probably the couple hundreds if not thousands of people. Of course you could also keep a skeleton crew aboard a ship that cannot sustain long term space living that has to jump back through the gates it has placed every so often to resupply and recrew.
Our ship is a construction vessel so I was assuming it would be at least a few thousand, which would mean that iur characters should really be in positions of authority, kinda rouge trader style
The crew is around 200 people with a large amount of construction robots doing most of the work. There are also a small scientific lab, a fighter bay and several mecha for defence. The ship is following a FTL probe sent out ages ago and has spent several months in light speed whilst the crew sleeps in stasis.
Thanks for clarifying

there are several construction ship trying to construct the jump gate network. Robot alone are too unreliable so a human crew is needed. The feel for the game im trying for is Mass Effect, Babylon 5 and Star Trek enterprise. There are no teleporters, shuttles need to be taken to planets surfaces etc.
So are we going to play authority figures, security chief, science officer etc?,Or are we going to be the redshirts
that im not sure about. Im kinda thinking the more blue collar guys, similar levels of authority. I don't really want a Leader in the group as such, but there can be a science guy a medic, a fighter or mecha pilot, a bioreplica etc. the crew is large enough that they are responsible to investigate their destination as well whilt consruction goes ahead etc.
Yeah,I'm with you on that. Playing the grunts would be fun for a while but I suspect it would get tedious quickly. This way you can still direct it and we can still have an affect.

If the game were in that sort of Horror setting I was proposing playing the grunts would be pretty fun.
In that setting the grunts would be the only people to play after a few sessions
I'm not planning on Dead Space like horror, but something along the lines of Alien could easily happen.
Dead Space would be pretty extreme, that's why I was thinking a plant-like lifeform perhaps, like parasitic vines that converts metal, plastic, human flesh into food and continues growing.
I'm liking the plant thing, running through corridors carpeted with creepers and half covered corpses would be great fun. Especially if the plant could infect crew members directly.
If there is any more room I would like to join.
yes there is still room. When I started this I intended to play Saturday afternoons 2pm -5pm. is this time good for everyone or is another time more suitable. I'm still putting ideas together at the moment but will try and get this off the ground asap.
2pm what time zone?
Uk time GMT.
Oh I don't think I'll be able to play, that sticks me at like 1-5am
ok well i wont rule you out yet as it may well end up in the evening.
Okay sounds good! I mean if it's more around the 6-7am time frame for me I may be able to make those
I would like to join too. For same reasons as Jason..
ok good . Thats a few people now. Just need to work out a few more details.
any more prefered time for people?
bumpety mump!
