New Player D&D

I am a new players to D&D, been wanting to play for years but I have never been able to find anyone local to play with and show me the ropes. Looking for a group that is willing to help teach as well as campaign with(Learning as I go works for me). I'm pretty open to what type of characters I'll have to use and what lore will be followed, or the worlds. I am very open, I just want to play.  I do have ideas of the type of character I'd like to play but I can adjust that as necessary.  Thanks :)

Hey all, I'm working on a short one shot type adventure for D&D 5e, time and date to be determined once we get enough folks together. I'm in the USA pacific time, and prefer weekends or evenings. This little adventure is perfect for new players, so you'd fit in. However, I run text based games only instead of video or voice. If that's cool, and you'd be interested shoot me a PM.

I noticed the post while browsing. I have some experience from doing one campaign. If you need another player I'm interested. I have a lvl 2 fighter or I can play another class is needed.
