[LFG][D&D 5E] Friday nights EST. One new player and one experienced player

Hi all, we are a husband and wife looking to start playing D&D 5E. Myself (the husband) has played several RPG over the years but hasn't played 5th edition yet. I enjoy allot of different styles of game play but prefer story driven games with players that have interesting characters that are well fleshed out rather than kick in the door style play. I haven't played in about a year's time sadly and wish to get back into it. My wife is a new player but learns and picks up on things fast. You won't have to worry about her favoring my characters or her letting me favor her characters over the party, she would see it as an insult and cheating. We are open to playing other games but after looking over the player's handbook for 5th edition I think it would be a good system to start my wife out on. We can do other times if necessary but Friday nights would be best for us.  Hope to hear back from people. :)
Hello. I'm completely new to the D&D world. To the point I have no idea how this will work and how anything works. I'm currently trying to find a handbook that can expline to me the rules. I'm sure I know the answer will be no because of my lack of experience, but could I interest you in a new player?
I don't mind playing with new players and teaching the basics. As for getting your hands on the 5th edition books sadly I can't help you to much there. I prefer having the hard back books so I pick mine up through Amazon.
I thank you for your generouise. I found a copy over the internet. I'm currently reading though it right now. Is there anything I should do before the game starts?
Well before you play a game the main thing to do is make sure you are well versed with the rules for the character you want to play. Also make sure you get in touch with the DM (dungeon master) to make sure your character is a good match for the setting and for the DM to go over your character sheet to check for errors and such. Also make sure to talk to your DM about any house rules they might have and what system they want you to use to make your character. The usual systems people use (in my experience) are point buy, rolling, and the standard array.  That should put you off to a good start. I've been the DM in the past and can do it again if need be, though if possible I would like to be a player for a bit. However if I am I would like to have between 4 and 6 players. Either way ultimately we would have to wait on more replies.
Thank you. I'll finish the hand book, then I'll get started on the sheet.
