I am looking for an experienced player to take over the role of our NPC cleric. Please read carefully below before applying: The character: Molly Pippins is a 5th level halfling cleric of NG alignment and a follower of St. Cuthbert. She's from The Grand Duchy of Geoff in Oreth (World of Greyhawk campaign). Molly is good-hearted and well-meaning but a bit overly talkative. She tends to give way too many details in telling a story and has trouble getting to the point much to the annoyance of the rest of her party. She speaks with Cockney accent and is comparable to the character Rose Tyler from Doctor Who (although a lot more talkative). I'm open to allowing some changes, but her race, gender, and class are not negotiable. I'm willing to provide lots of help in getting the new player up to speed on her backstory and the events prior to joining. The Game: This is an adult group. We're looking for a mature player ( no kids please ) who is available to play every other Sunday (sometimes we may go 2 Sundays in a row) from 4:30 Central time until around 6:30 Central. We generally keep our sessions to about 2 hours. We use Roll 20 pretty much for visual aids and the character sheets. We use Google Hangouts for voice chat. I don't generally design super detailed dungeons and we tend to use our game tokens like tabletop miniatures and the play area as more of a battle mat for fight scenes only. Our game only uses the 2nd Edition Players handbook and we do not use kits or any accessory books. We are not currently using the weapon and non-weapon proficiency system and just make checks against relevant stats. Characters can use any weapon they find as long as it is legal to their class. We are a group that focuses more on the story, roleplaying and character interaction as opposed to combat. We tend to use the light rules for combat as opposed to the more detailed combat rules to keep the game moving. The campaign itself is going to be 20 adventures long. We are currently in the third adventure and as of right now, we've only just started that module. The first half of the game is taking place in Ravenloft and uses the Grand Conjunction modules. Following the conclusion of the Ravenloft adventures, we plan to run Against the Giants and the subsequent modules that lead into the Underdark. That part of the campaign will take place in the prime material plane in the World of Greyhawk setting. There will be a few classic one-off stand-alone modules to fill in the cracks. What we're looking for in a player: This is not a beginner's game. The game moves quickly and our characters level up after just about every adventure. We will probably slow things down a bit after hitting level 10. We're looking for a seasoned roleplayer that has at least some exposure and familiarity with the 2nd Edition AD&D rules. Please note, this system has very different game mechanics from the later editions of the game. You must have a copy of the 2nd Ed. AD&D Player's Handbook. Other rules versions are not compatible. PDFs of this book are available online if you do not have a physical copy. You need to also have familiarity with running a cleric character. Clerics have a very large spell selection in this edition. We are not taking any other players at this time. I would prefer you contact me via email off-site at MScherpenberg@gmail.com to discuss things further if you are interested in joining the game as opposed to an on-site direct message. I will delete this message or edit it to show the role has been filled once we get a taker. I realize it may take us a little while to find the right person for this role, so it may get edited and updated a few times.
