Sadly real life circumstances sometimes mess up availabilities and schedules. My campaign recently took a bit of a player hit, and after allowing the remaining 4 players to settle a bit, we're now looking for a new player. What's the game? The mechanics first: DnD 5e, with some houserules (Matt Mercer's resurrection rules, potions on a bonus action, etc), set in a homebrew world. Published races and classes are allowed, except lizardfolk and aasimar (the latter for worldbuilding reasons), including Matt Mercer's subclasses from the Tal'Dorei campaign guide, as well as Matter Mercer's blood hunter and, once guns have been invented, the gunslinger. No UA, except for the revised ranger (with a few minor homebrew tweaks), and the Artificer. Don't worry though - I compiled two big documents that include all the races and classes available to players, along with lore and flavor for their place in this world. What's the story? Almost a thousand years ago the world of Aeash was in turmoil. Cults ran rampant, spreading the influence of their dark masters across the land, until finally conflict erupted between the gods themselves. The good and neutral deities formed the Sovereign Host, while their evil enemies became known as the Forces Below. The war between the gods devastated the land, but the Sovereign Host eventually triumphed. The Forces Below were vanquished - either exiled or sealed away - and their influence over the land faded. In the time since this Lullaby War, Aeash has become a peaceful land, albeit one left to forever bear the scars carved by the gods in their fight. But there are dark clouds on the horizon and a foul chill in the air; there is something brewing in the shadows of the Slumbering Realm, and some whisper that it is long overdue for a rough awakening. Purple crystals are cropping up everywhere, not yet to public knowledge, and they powerful foes are associated with them... the Forces Below are stirring, and factions tasked with protecting the martial world are busy investigating and preparing for the next catastrophe.... When do you play? Weekly on Sundays, 11am - 4pm PST (UTC -7) What's the current party looking like? We have four players currently: A human archfey warlock, chain pact A dwarven moon druid A goliath barbarian / way of the open hand monk A halfling valor bard (currently temporarily playing a half-elf grave cleric, but will move back to the bard within a few weeks) How do you play? We use roll20 for the game itself (featuring a variety of useful APIs and Dynamic Lighting, the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide, the Tome of Beasts, for all the monster goodness), and a Discord server for communication. Games are played in Discord voice chat, rolls are made and maps traversed on roll20. We prefer lots of roleplaying to lots of roll-playing. How do I apply? Please see our LFG Listing . Game link: The Slumbering Realm Introduce yourself as thoroughly as you wish, and pitch us a character. I'm happy to tell you all about the world building to help you place a potential character (currently level 8). Please be advised: Players must be 18+, as parts of the campaign might deal with mature themes. Please also be aware that we'll make our first choices based on what you tell us about yourself, because our goal is to pick someone who as a person and character is a good fit for the group. So the more you tell us, the better our idea of who you are. My advice: Make a team player, someone who'll be interested in epic adventures. For an easy hook, you might already be a member of the Istorian adventuring guild, the Open Door. You're not obliged to use this hook, it's just an easy in :) What's your process for picking a new player? Communication will run through me first, and I'll forward your introductions to my players. We'll pick one or two people we feel would be a good match, and run a trial session with them. You'll get to help run a mission to unpetrify a halfling valor bard who somehow got herself turned into a statue, oops? Wherever your character came from, they should currently be passing through or living in Fenfire Haven, a remote, small-ish, somber village in a slightly swampy forest tucked against the foothills of a massive mountain range. Questions? Feel free to peruse the questions thread, see LFG listing above.
