Hello, I'm a fairly experienced DM whos looking for a few players to join my game. The game is a homebrewed world and campaign where the party is free to choose their own path, whether you decide to be evil overlords or the heroes is completely up to you. I make sure that each character has a set goal in mind for their backstory so that it can be brought up at some point in the campaign, whether they're seeking revenge, a certain item, knowledge, friendship (bleh), or other such things. This is to give your characters purpose and help guide you along the way. I will also give you guys a set goal to kinda rail road you SLIGHTLY incase you get intimidated by the vast freedom with the world. This isn't my first time DMing something like this, I've had quite a few attempts where players suddenly lose interest or their schedules change so then the groups end up being disbanded so if you apply be ready to stick around for a long time please. What I'm looking for in players is someone who can show up to games or give a heads up if you cant make it. Someone who plays through text because I simply don't have a mic however some of my other players also prefer text for their own reasons. Someone who is down for some rich rp with interesting characters and a mix of combat with the context of the current story. Someone who can make interesting characters rather than a blank slate, try to spice it up beyond an edgy generic character please but you don't need to be super unique to be interesting. And lastly, someone who won't whine if things don't go your way, such as rolling a nat20 to try to lift an impossibly large boulder but failing because its way to massive to be lifted alone, not getting items from looting because someone else in the party took them, not getting attacks in. I understand that people get frustrated be please don't throw a fit as I've had problems with this before and people ended up leaving. NEW PLAYERS WELCOME My style of GMing is pretty straightforward and standard, I describe the world around you and give you insight if your character should have some then let you attempt your actions and describe the aftermath of your rolls, whether you heroically front flip and slice off the wyvern's wings or slip up and flop onto the wyvern's back it should still be fun for everyone. I'm pretty laid back with messing up on the rules as I mess up here and there as well so don't be scared to make mistakes, if a problem occurs then we'll worry about it after the game. I also like a good mix of rp and combat, combat on its own is pretty stale so making some good context for the combat is what I try to do. My goal for this whole game is to make an amazing story with my players so we can all have a good time and perhaps start a new campaign together. About the world. I'm still currently world building but what I have so far is inspired by many many games that I've played before such as warhammer, dark souls, darkest dungeon, diablo, and so on. The game will start on the continent of Irrula, a large land with a tundra to the north, a grass land flanked by forests and swamps in the middle, and a south of rocky red mountains and a vast desert. The races are pretty much how you would imagine, humans live in empires and kingdoms, wood elves live in the titan tree forests, dark elves in the underdark citadels, highelves in coastal palaces, dwarves in jade citadels in the mountains, dragonborn in the floating islands, and an encroaching army of undead from the north. There should be just about anything you expect and want to allow for a lot of freedom. If you wanna know more details then just ask me.
