Archived vs non-archived

If I archive a handout, is there any difference between it an an non-archived handout? Is there a reason one should (or should not) archive?
Archived items do not pre-load when people log into your campaign. So, archiving things not immediately needed can help decrease your player's time needed to log into your game.
So lets say I archive everything. When my players log in, it goes as normal as far as time is concerned. But then I want to show them 3-5 handouts (that are archived). Does this effect the game in any way at this point? Or if I have the handouts archived but they are linked on the players character sheets, if they click the link to an archived handout, will they notice anything different? Thanks, Brett. Love the avatar.

Kim H., in order to show an archived handout to a player, you would have to first restore the handout. Archived items do not show up on the normal list of journals/handouts/pages/etc for players and show up under an "archived" heading that lists the number of archived items for the GM. It's best to only archive things that you are not currently intending to use. You can give it a quick try if you want to see what it looks like. Journals, handouts, and maps all have an "archive" button on their edit pages. Restoring them from the archive is very easy as well. Just click on the Archived icon that will show up in the listing of the type of items that you archived, and you'll get a list of all the archived items. Each one will have a "restore" button next to it and all you have to do is click that to have them put back to normal.
