Hey all, I was fortunate enough to meet a pretty awesome group of players here on Roll20. We're currently in two campaigns together (some of the group are in a third together). Those specific campaigns don't meet all that often, and we decided we'd like to try and join another campaign together. Here's a little about us : - We have no less than four interested players. Possibly five. - We've all played together, and we can vouch for each other's maturity, experience, knowledge of the game, and ability to be on-time with no recurring, b.s. excuses (real life permitting, of course). - Best RP I've seen in a group. - - Let me expand on that: Some people feel the need to RP their character as if everyone should cower when they speak; as if the ground shook, and lightning crashes with every footfall. - This isn't that type of group. In fact, such levels of arrogance have led to quick deaths for our lesser-experienced players in our campaigns. Our characters actions are often reasonable and always in-line with their selected personas. - - For this reason, we all craft relatively elaborate backstories. Nothing too grand; but a good page of text is what we shoot for. We base our actions off of our characters' personas; even if meta-game knowledge would have us act differently. "GM, I know you basically told me there's a trap right there, but my guy's too dumb to look for it. I'll move forward anyway..." - We're absolutely not locked in to any specific role / gender / persona. We're adaptable. Half the fun is creating the character and his story. Here's some very rough idea of what we're looking for: - Creative, adaptive, imaginative, and articulate GM. We're looking to invest a lot of time into characters and their stories. We'd hope the GM would do the same with the campaign. We're not looking for superbly-drawn maps, multiple volumes of custom lore, or to-scale renderings of every building / cavern / etc..; but we're not really interested in looking at a blank white grid with MS Paint-esque scribblings every other session. Attention to detail is a big plus to us. - As mentioned above, adaptability is a big one for the group. Should a GM have a campaign planned out that is "on rails", we'd likely be less-interested in joining. We're not looking for a massive sandbox either, as we'd like to be working toward a goal of some sort. We'd just prefer a reasonable amount of options. - No "Core Material Only" restriction. Again, creating a character is one of the most fun things for this group. We're rounded enough to not take advantage of some of the "broken" tricks and skill/ability/spell combos. Most of the group are GMs in other well-crafted campaigns, and understand the potential problems and exploits. Of course, feel free to restrict certain things - but don't just limit us to "core". - RP more than Pew-Pew. Don't get me wrong, we love to make little bits out of bad things, but we'd prefer to flesh-out the reasons why in roleplay. I'd hope for a mix of around 60 / 40 ish RP to combat Ratio. Let our diplo-mancer try and talk to the mayor of the town. Let the rogue devise a plan to enter the enemy's foothold. A good GM would hopefully give us good cause for a plot as opposed to a "Go here, kill that" mentality. - No "Premade" characters or backstories. By that, I mean, don't hand us a character sheet. If your campaign requires a certain archetype " You're all knights of Amerul Kingdom " - that's fine. We're all for that, just give us a bit of "wiggle-room". Availability : - We've talked as a group, and right now Monday Evening (6 CST - GMT-6) are the best for all of us. Now, that doesn't mean we won't consider other times of the week; just that we -may- be short a member here or there. We're not above shuffling things around. Monday is NOT set in stone. Contact me here. I'll post this thread link to our other group members, so watch out for their comments as well!
