I'm sure this is the easiest question, but it's really escaping my understanding.

How do I create characters for my party? I am GMing a group and will have 5-6 people in it, but i cant figure out whether I have to create them or whether they import their own characters. Even lesser so, I have no idea where to find this info :(

Hi Mark. Creating characters really depends on what system you are using. There's no need to import them, but it's generally useful to have the character at least mostly created already before inputting them into Roll20. You can set up "character sheets" using Roll20's journal system and even add attributes and abilities. This wiki page might be useful for you: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Journal#Characters" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Journal#Characters</a>
Character sheets fully loaded with Attributes and Abilities that reference them to make all your rolls for you accurately is a beautiful thing... but certainly not a neccesity. A LOT of roll20 games have players make and maintain their own sheets and just send a copy to the GM to make sure everything's done right. At a table you all roll your dice and watch your own sheet. Roll20 can do a lot for you, but it's optional.
I think the wiki would help you get started: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Main_Page" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Main_Page</a> If you're a bit overwhelmed, I'd ignore all of the cool macro stuff for now. Just drop an image on the map for each player to use as a token and let them manually roll the dice in the program. Once you've gotten the hang of things, you can start worrying about macros. So you might do this in steps over time: 1) Just use tokens and players manually roll dice 2) Add some macros for common dice rolls to the macro bar (d20, d100, etc.) 3) Tie tokens to mostly empty character sheets. Create a few macros there for common things 4) Create fuller character sheets with attributes and abilities. Create macros that use those.
Awesome! Will do! Thank you all for the advice!

Our group is using Myth-Weavers for our character sheets ... it's a great service. I put a link to the Myth-Weavers sheet in the character's Journal entry on Roll20.
