NPC Passive Perception API

So I had this idea but have no idea if it's possible and wonder if something like this already exists.  A player triggers a Stealth Command (status symbol applied). The API rolls a stealth check hidden from the character (or not). Any NPC that comes near a certain distance of the PC auto rolls or checks their passive perception to detect said player. GM is alerted to any passed checks. Just the general idea, not sure if it's actually practical.  Thought it would be a neat reminder to players and dms of the stealth aspect of the game which is sometimes forgotten due to a tedious factor I think.

It's certainly possible, but tricky to write, and there are likely situations that complicate it (what type of grid you are using, map scale, etc.). It also doesnt account for situation modifiers like available cover, darkness, etc - if its being handled in an automated way, you lose a lot of flexibility.

There isn't an easy way to handle Line of Sight either, so a creature on the other side of a wall might pass within mere feet, but shouldn't have the opportunity to spot them... unless it has x-ray vision, or blindsight, or some other sense... What would be very doable and possibly useful would be if it would alert the GM that there is something to adjudicate.

Ya that's what I was thinking Aaron and G G maybe it would, just notify the DM in a whisper and then the DM decides what happens from there kind of thing.  Kinda just a helper tool.  I donno if it's practical or not but thought it would be neat.  I just seem to notice, in a LOT of games people just stop stealthing eventually just due to per tediousness of it.  They might stealth for a few rooms, then just forget later on after they've stopped stealthing. It'd be mostly a reminder tool that would help ease the notion of stealthing by rolling their stealth and applying a status symbol at the same time.  While also keeping the DM aware and helping him in that regard, by not having to check every single NPCs passive perception and then having to track everyone's roll.
