[LFP][5E][EST] Weekly Eberron Game

Im looking to start a 5E Eberron game. Its probably my favorite to play in and I got a copy of the updated rules as soon as they came out! Ive got three basic ideas for what I want to do, unfortunately I neither have the talent nor the time to do the whole sandbox thing. I generally start a night with one to three possible paths prepared and while I can and do a lot of stuff on the fly (and often will x.x) I much prefer a general frame work from which to work. Im a big BIG role-player and am ruled by the Rule of Cool! So 1)       Start in Lower Dura as a group of random outcasts whom witnessed a not super uncommon thing, a body fell from the higher wards and goes spalt. One of the group of passersby(yall) stops and looks at the corpse for reasons, sees the dude was obviously dead before his sudden stop. The group then goes to a nearby tavern to raise a glass in the dude’s honor, so he doesn’t come back to kill them, and the oddness is brought up. Adventure Time! 2)       Start in Morgrave University be part of an expedition to Xendrik to find the lost city of Xal’Sharat, weird in that the professors running the show picked seemingly random people to be on this expedition(yall). The party members are part of a prophecy by Flamewind, they have to enter the center of Xal’Sharat before the end of the year or bad. Cue Indian Jones music. 3)       Be a group of randos waiting out the night in First Tower. Largeish group of “Monsters” enter the bar. Bar fight ftw. Start using old Droaam and Darguun battle cries from the last war. After bar fight find a fuckhueg amount of some weird drug on them, likely headed for Daask based on who and what made up the group. You can A) Go into the lower wards and find out whats up, maybe get in on this trade, maybe break it up or B) Droaam is wonderful this time of year, or so you hear. Im looking for a group of 4 to 5 Players. I don’t mind new players. All the races in the PHB except Dragronborn and Tieflings are useable, as are all the races in the Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron. All other races are on a case by case basis. All fully published classes are also acceptable, assuming you have the publication it came from and can send me a copy of the relevant books. UA material will also be on a case by case basis. If you wish to play a Dragonmarked character that’s fine, but you will be either a Foundling, an Excoriate or an Aberrant. If you want to play a Wandslinger Ill allow it on a case by case basis. I am fairly flexible with playtime. I would prefer weekends, but I can make weekdays work as well. If you’re interested in playing, please tell me which idea sounds most interesting to you and give me a quick little character concept and when the best time to play is for you. Im very big into the Role-Playing aspect of the game, I understand not everyone is, and that’s A-Okay! But a little thought into who your character is isn’t that onerous is it?
Greetings. Favorite Idea: I like the adventure and mystery of Option 2 the best. I've always enjoyed the Indiana Jones, Uncharted, TR-type media and would be interested to see that play-out in D&D. Character Concept:  A monk whose order originated in Xal'Sharat. They mean to discover the ancient traditions, artifacts and secrets that have not withstood the test of time outside the lost city. (Just an idea, I'm kreatiff and like coming up with ideas so I could play anything. Yes, even cleric. I'm also willing to work with the DM to better integrate backstory into the world, like if it wouldn't make sense for a monk order to originate in the lost city.) Best Time:  Weekdays after 5 or 6. Preferably Wednesday. About Me:  I really enjoy role-playing, even using combat as an opportunity to role-play. I've been DM'ing for my friends for just over a year now and have recently started playing in games as a player here on Roll20. I'm responsible, level-headed and always show up on time. I can admittedly be a slow-starter in terms of finding my character, but I'm getting better.

Favorite Idea: Number 2, sounds the most fun story telling wise. Character Concept:  Celestial Warlock who made a pact with a powerful Coatl from the upper planes. He turned away form the order he served under (God from you pantheon) once he realized they were evil and had brainwashed him to believe he was doing good. Haunted by the memories of people he had hurt but adamant to move forward in life and help where he is needed. Best Time: After 11pm EST on weekdays or anytime on the weekends (possibility to work) preferably later in the day or at night. About Me: I have come to love TTRPGs in the year I have been playing 5e and would love to play more games. I love the stories that are ever evolving and players who put fun above power. I am a very calm person and eager to meet other players in this awesome hobby!  PM for discord info if interested!
Favorite Idea: Love the adventure of option 2 Character Concept:  Mountain Dwarf Cavalier Fighter. Still working on his story, and I'm not toooo familiar with the Eberron setting, but I'd love to work with the DM or group in a session 0 to get that sorted and fitting the campaign. Best Time: I'm EST and time is no issue for me currently. About Me: I've been playing 5E since release and adore the tactical side of combat and getting into good RP when the chance arises.

Favorite Idea : Any. Character Concept:  Human Thief. Orphaned from The Last War, he had a rough life on the streets. Now, with ample skill (among other things) he seeks to try to make sure other orphans do not have the same rough upbringing...through almost any means. (Although open to any character, and am also waiting for the new artificer) Best Time:  Weekdays, but weekends are also workable. About Me: Been playing DnD for a long time, but only recently got into 5th edition. I played almost exclusively with the same group and am now looking for a new one. I like almost every aspect of the game.

Favorite Idea: Option 1 or 3. (Combo breaker) Character Concept: I'm not to terribly sure at the moment as I'd like to see the party make up and get a vibe for everything first. My rough ideas are all leaning heavy into the Eberron material. Warforged Cleric- Wander a machine of war who found new purpose in his faith. The gods may not be able to walk the world and spread their will, but he can spread their works and be their voice a conduit of the divine purpose. Changeling Bard or Wizard- Is well always was one who stayed just outside the conflict as best he could, but the last war took it's toll on him none the less. Two years later he just is looking to forget and keep away from how it all turned out. You'd think when you can change anything about yourself it'd be easy to outrun something like the past. Dragonmarks interest me, but might steer away from them initially. Best Time: Any day except for Friday and pretty much anytime after 11 A.M. CST. Though my schedule sometimes does have last minute changes do to my occupation. About Me: I've been playing D&D for over 10 years played pretty much every edition though most extensively AD&D and 5e. I've got about 3 years experience now with 5e and have really enjoyed it. Otherwise I had two groups both lasted a bit over a year, but ended up having to disband so looking to get into a new group and do something different. I have never played in Eberron, but have really found myself reading a bunch of the lore and really fascinated by the setting. Slight edit here at the end I lean heavily towards roleplaying and creative solutions than combat though I still enjoy tactical combats. 60/40 or 70/30 split in favor of RP most the time. I kind of consider puzzles or exploring part of roleplaying.

I will start by saying I have never played in an Eberron setting but I have wanted to for a while now. That being the case I am less familiar with a lot of the Lore of that world. Favorite Idea: Idea 2. I usually like fate driven plots and being part of a prophecy sounds interesting. Character Concept:   A Half-elf Sorcerer who was abandoned at birth. An elderly wizard took him in when it became clear he was gifted with unusual magic(Shadow magic sorcerer if approved [Source Xanathars]). The man raised him as his own and named him Umbra. recently he died of an unexplained illness leaving Umbra to fend for himself and find his own place in the world. Best Time: weekdays (Except Thursday) between 4pm-1am About Me: Name : Eric Age : 26 Role playing exp : 15+years 5e exp : 3 and a half years. prefered players : I am looking to play with other mature adults preferably in my age group. Due to too many bad experiences I won't be joining games where the players are under 18. other than that I am happy to play with anyone.
Hey there, never played in Eberron but LOVE the concept.  I am in PST by the way, it shouldn't be too hard to manage most times. Favorite Idea : Option 1 Character Concept:  Either a half orc or goliath Pugilist (Please see the DMguild page for that) Mainly I chose this because while I love the monk I wanted to find something more based on personal grit and determination. This has is in spades, plus a street fighter wanting to be the best boxer in the world coming from the slums is an awesome story seed, overcoming adversity and racism while climbing the social ladder. (I would go Goliath and have him modeled after Alex Louis Armstrong from FMA brotherhood a bit).  Best Time : Sundays or Mondays between 10am and 10pm. Depending, life is messy. About Me :  Name : Joey Age : 27 Role Playing EXP : Almost 10 years 5e EXP : 3 years. Preferred Games:   Looking for a group of likeminded adults willing to face mature themes and in a respectable manor. Would rather not have anyone under 18 for some obvious reasons (especially with some adult themes that can get hairy), I do like, however a 60/40 split RP to combat.
I have never played Eberron, but I know some of the lore and really enjoy the idea. Favorite Idea:  I like the 2nd idea best. It just sounds like it'll be a lot of fun! Character Concept:   An Aasamir Hexblade Warlock of the Raven Quen who believes he is actually a Paladin.  Best Time:  I could make most days work after 7 EST About Me: Name : Nick Age : 27 Role-playing exp : 5+ years 5e exp : 2 years prefered players : I would prefer to play with other mature, like-minded adults. I enjoy combat, but also would like opportunities for character growth. I'd say a 50/50 split would be my prefered, but I am open to anything.
If you've still got some slots open I'd love to play.  Favorite Idea: Don't get me wrong, the adventure hooks sound cool. I'm just not familiar enough with Eberron as a setting yet to really weigh in. I'd be cool with whatever happened. Character Idea(s): Notice the s? I have a lot. I've got a Ice Sorcerer (UA stuff but it's not super OP or anything) that makes a pact with a Celestial to keep his wild powers under control, Moon Elf Bladesinger with a mystery to solve of who framed him for murder, a female Rogue who doesn't really get she's a Rogue and kinda just does her things while being amazed at her own abilities, a Paladin bastard prince who is basically just King Arthur at the end of the day, a Bard/Rogue who is one controlling, whispery boy. I... I spend a lot of time making characters. Best Times: I can usually do Monday afternoons, EST, Tuesday and Wednesday for all day, and around 6 pm - 12 pm EST on Thursdays. I've got other stuff going on during the weekend, but I can squeeze in Sunday afternoons/evenings if that's what the group wanted. As for me, I've got a good amount of years of role playing experience, combined with a fierce creative streak that is given drive by me wanting to be an author one day. I've got around a year's worth of experience with 5e and D&D in general, however I delve so far into the rules of this game that you'd be hard pressed to find someone that understands the way the majority of things work like I do (I'm humble, I swear). My sense of humor can be a bit crude and while playing I don't tend to stay in character all the time, mostly during combat or sections where the role play isn't as serious or absolutely required.
Favorite Idea:  Going against the popular vote here but going to say Option 3.  but will say I like them all.  Character Concept:  A Changeling Warlock (Hexblade) Deserter during the last battles of the Last War by the name of Lark who was mential tramitized by the war and is looking for a way to safe herself.  Best Time:  weekdays: Monday or Thursday between 6pm-10pm, weekend: Sunday between 3pm-10pm About Me: I have played not only nearly every edition of D&D and will say the Eberron is by far my favorite setting of all time.   I am what I call a Character Player, I am more interested character development than number crunching (although I want my character to be a helpful member of the party) I do not go for power-gaming at least to the point of being a pain to my GM and fellow players.     Name : Jacob or Neil works Age : 38 Role playing exp : 21+years 5e exp : played in five games and ran two myself. preferred players:  Friendly players who are interested in role playing their character and working together with our GM to create a cool and interesting story of adventure.  I don't mind playing with mature subject matter or not, just as long a everyone is on the same page and keeps to this.

So you’ve got the Church of the Silver Flame, think Catholic Church with a hard on for burning “evil” stuff and a super pope. Sovereign Host, your classic six deity D&D gods, if you want to worship a specific member is also kool. The Dark Six, five assholes and a sixth guy the Host just doesn’t like. The Blood of Vol, a cult to one of the few high-level characters in the setting. The Path of Light, the Kalishtar religion and part of the reason they’ve got an alien soul thing (its complicated). The Undying Court, good Elven Liches who together on Arenal have the actual power of a god. Cults of the Dragon Below, nihilist psychopaths who aren’t really one religion but a catchall for A LOT of “Lets kill the WORLD!!1!” cults. 2)       Xal’Sharat would have been ruined for nearly 40 thousand years. If your character has some kind of tie to it and your not an Elf your going to have to give me a very compelling reason why. 3)       Again on Option 2, most of Xendrik is a fairly massive empty jungle. Lots of dinosaurs, giant spiders, pissed off drow and giants. Theres only one real city/town Stormsreach which the party will not likely see until the end of campaign. Will likely find a fair amount of crazy ancient Giant loot tho. 4)       Option 1 will include a LOT of NPC interaction. Because your in the lower wards it will be a fairly low magic campaign, by Eberron standards anyway. Don’t expect a ton of adventuring magic to be coming your way. 5)       As I said at the start, please stick to the races outlined at the start, if you want something else please PM me directly so we can discuss it. Eberron has a lot of “Monstrous” characters, but Planetouched are EXTREMELY rare. Mainly because the heaven analogue and the Dragons hunt them down to keep the barriers between the realms strong.
All that being the case it sounds like option 3 would be better suited to my character, but I'm still interested all the same
Favorite Idea: Option 2 sounds very intruiging in my opinion Character Concept:  An ex-military Tabaxi(If you were to allow it, otherwise Human) Rogue whose Team was disbanded after the war and is now desperatly trying to find inner forgiveness for his gruesome deeds during the war. (Basically: Trying to cope with the fact that he killed a lot of people and sees himself as a Monster and not as a "Tabaxi/Human"(Depending on what you allow for the character)) Best Time: During the next two weeks the only time I am available is Saturday after 6~7PM until Sunday 5PM (18.8-19.8+25.8-26.8). Otherwise:  Monday-Friday: everything after 5 PM should be alright; Weekends: Normally after 4PM is fine on both days About Me:   Currently somewhat desperatly searching for a game to join after not playing for a while. I enjoy complicated puzzles and social intruiges in my games, but I've only ever played Homebrews. With the new Eberron Book release I got rather Interested in trying out an official setting which is why I'm hoping to join. Name : Samuel  Age : 18 Role playing exp : ~1 year 5e exp : Only Homebrew Campaigns. preferred players: Players who do not lore-dump the party in the first session with their complete backstory. Other than that, I'd say players who help with the immersion with the way they play their character.
So Ive gotten a few questions about when Im going to start picking players. Im planning on picking a group this friday and sending out the Discord invites so we can start chit chatting over the weekend. Session 0 will be next week sometime.
Favorite Idea: Option #1 sounds like a good dose of intrigue, I'm definitely interested in it. Character Concept: Currently two main concepts appeal to me, though as time goes on and I read more things or get more a grasp on what the campaign might be like they could change. Human Paladin, Blood of Vol: Karrnathi soldier who readily fought alongside undead during the war, now finds himself alienated from his country due to the change of state religion. Undergoes conflict between deciding to side with his nation or with his faith, all the while seeking some means to make himself useful during times of peace, an ordeal which he is entirely unprepared for. Elf Ranger or Fighter: Somewhat less fleshed out than the character above currently, a Valenar mounted combatant roaming the world more as means of escape rather than in pursuit of glory. Due to witnessing the devastation of the Mourning, he makes certain never to stay too long in the same location, irrationally fearing being caught by the fog. With his trusted horse, takes any sort of odd job that allows him to retain his mobile lifestyle.  Best Time: 5:00 PM CST to 9:00 PM CST on any day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best times for me. I could probably comfortably start as early as 3:00 PM CST or 4:00 PM, but 5 is pretty certainly good. About Me: I've been playing D&D (mostly 5e, though I started with AD&D 2e) for close to 5 years now. Played with a couple groups for a bit over a year each, had some good times and met them all on roll20. I'm a friend of Maxx, he made an application earlier. Ideally, I'd like to end up playing with him in this game if I was to be selected. As for the balance between RP and combat, I generally prefer more RP as a whole, probably something like 70/30. I'm a newcomer to Eberron but I've been voraciously reading as much as I can about the setting, so I should have a pretty good understanding of it by the time game starts.
Favorite Idea: Options 1 and 3, but option 2 wouldn't be a deal-breaker either. Character Concept(s):  First, an Eldritch Knight of yet undecided race, and Cyran survivor. They are one of a sizable fraternity (6-12) of former orphans, who went on to be soldiers on the tail end of the Last War. Following Cyre's destruction, the ones that still live have retired, save for my character. Through continuing as an adventurer, they hope to decide between condemning their brothers for giving up on their past, or letting go and hanging up their banner for good. Driven and idealistic, but touchy about Cyre. Second, a weasel-like swiftstride Shifter, Scout [Xanathar's GtE] or Thief Rogue. Employed by House Orien as a petty courier, and good at the job, but prone to getting the short stick and being stuck with unusual or outright dangerous commissions. Dodged the draft of the Last War out of fear, and somewhat guilty-minded about it. Selfless and reputable, but weak-kneed and prone to flight. Best Time(s): Friday afternoons beyond 6PM EST, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Monday and Tuesday afternoons may be available, and I will let you know as soon as I have solid confirmation. About Me:  One year and a half of playing D&D, all in 5e, with some experience on both sides of the DM screen. For other experience, I've learned Pathfinder, but haven't yet gotten to play it. Eberron is new to me, but this isn't my first game outside of the Realms. Both Maxx and Epicface above are players I've played with for nearly my entire time with the game, and if possible, I would prefer to play alongside them. Finally, while I haven't yet played in a particularly roleplaying-heavy game yet, I think my two friends here can vouch for the quality and depth of most of my characters.
So I sent out discord invites to 5 of yall. If you didnt get an invite dont lose hope, if anyone doesnt respond Ill grab more people from here ^.^ Thanks for your consideration!
