Be good and you will be lonesome. (click me) Hello, and thank you for coming. My name is LeBeau, otherwise known as dark horse. I invite you to a game of Vampire: The Masquerade's newly released fifth edition. I hope that this post details everything you could ask in order to make a decision about applying to this game, but if you have questions, feel free to ask here or send me a private message. This game will take place weekly , Mondays . Optimally we will play around 2PM CST-US/UTC -6 . The games will typically last 3-4 hours. I am free all day mondays - if the players agree, we can play at different blocks different weeks as needed. The game will be ready to play Sept. 3rd . Two weeks from now. I call this chronicle... Fair Warning . Q: I've never play e d [vampire/white wolf/tt rpgs/roll20] before, can I play? A: Yes! Newer players are just fine. Fifth edition only has one book out currently; there's no need to go absorb all of the lore. The game will actually work better the less meta knowledge you have. The mechanics are also very easy. You are better rewarded for being clever and descriptive than strictly-speaking, "system mastery". Q: Okay, so give me the pitch. A: I need 4 players to play in a game of personal horror. This will not be a game of superheroes with fangs. We will use Roll20 to share pictures, music (i've built up an extensive library of mood music), roll dice. We will be using Discord to voice chat and talk between sessions. I want romance, sacrifice, loathing. Bring me your drama kid emotions. Roleplayers wanted. I will be using some of the optional systems in the V5 core book, as well as a few house rules that add texture without too much complexity. I will be using relationship maps to key in on your touchstones you have built and will build in game. The plots (aside from the introductory first few sessions), will be coming from your backgrounds. If you've ever seen something like Critical Role, that's sort of what I aspire towards as far as character background integration. Q: So what makes it special? A: The game takes place in New Orleans. I was born here, and have spent my entire 35+ years here. I will be using the Call of Cthulhu supplement for 1920s New Orleans, and I will be taking inspiration, maps, NPCs, and locales from the two New Orleans sourcebooks spread between "Old World of Darkness" (oWoD) & Vampire: The Requiem (CoD/Chronicles of Darkness). There has not been much of any official material written about the setting in V5, so I will be substituting my own... using mythology, voodoo, and first-hand flavor. The time will be modern day. The mood will be gothic-punk despite what CCP seems to think. Q: Excellent, I've already made my charact- A: One more thing. We will be waiting to make these characters until we assemble at a session zero. We will be using a Fiasco-style system to mesh characters together. Very early on the group will become a coterie. We will decide on chronicle tenets (beyond what I've stated). We will share in the creation of your characters, their lives and unlives, and their histories. Other players at the table can play NPCs in your background if you like. We will use the storyteller game system to it's full extent. Follow me...
