Imported map questions

I picked up a roll20 sub today as well as the PHB. It is a small price to pay to be able to play games with friends back in the Midwest . Anyways. Map questions. I'm using Illwinter Floor Plan to create my maps and it does what I need it to do pretty well. It has kind of been answered in another older thread. My map colors are pretty vibrant in Illwinter and my editor when I compress them down. on the map screen though, they are washed out when I use a white or transparent background. Changing the background to black makes it look closer to the original colors but is still rather dark. Am I missing something? (YES... Put it on the map layer!) Duh... I've opted to use Roll20 doors instead of ones in Illwinter. It makes sense as they are objects. Is there a way to block off sections of the map to player movement? Since I'm using a bitmap background, it seems that fog of war and lighting would see right through walls unless there is a way to let the underlying program know that there is something solid in between. (I think I answered that with restrict movement using dynamic lighting WHICH IS SO COOL) I've got other questions but those will be answered in time I am sure.
1) Are you putting the image file on the map layer? Is it a .png (transparency)? I'm not sure why it would get washed out otherwise... 2) A great idea, except for 3) 3) Yes, dynamic lighting can restrict vision and movement. However, re: 2) You can't have a token which affects DL, so you'll have to add an item on the DL layer to compensate.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the color profile used by Illwinter Floor Plan is giving you really vibrant colors on their site, but that the canvas (or more likely, the image normalization upload process) assumes a default color profile (probably sRGB) which leads to a drabber color experience. Checkout this article which was recently recommended to me on the subject: http://geraldbakker.nl/psnumbers/color-profiles-1.html You could try downloading the med/max/thumb versions of the image and see what color profile the converted images have assigned to them, and possibly adjust the color profile in your original to match, thus preserving more of the original colors.
Thanks all. I've been answering my own as I go through here. Phnord Prephect said: 3) Yes, dynamic lighting can restrict vision and movement. They open the door, move the line and the door.

Using a different color for doors, and giving them a little hook at then end to make them easier to grab is a common trick.
