How to write spells

Playing Forgoten Realms 3.5 with a couple of friends This is the only game that I've ran and they are to the level where they are acquiring new and a great deal of spells. My question is how do you write spells in the game? A Macro for each spell, just a copy of the spell, or xyz? Thanks

Assuming you mean how does one write a spell into a character sheet, as opposed to making handouts for scrolls or something: most of my players have generally made macros for the handful of spells they use quite often, and the other spells are (at most) just listed on their character sheet, along with possibly a brief description. But part of this will change depending upon trust between players and GM, and how much info you keep on roll20 character sheets in the first place.
what about for scrolls and handouts? If it a waist of time to write handouts link them to spell handouts to keep track of said spell affects on weapons?

Hmmm, I'm assuming you're the GM? This comes to a question of what flavor of campaign you're looking for. Is magic commonplace? If so, you go to the store, and you buy a scroll of Melf's Acid Arrow, and people generally know what that looks like, and there's nothing special about the common spell scroll that isn't also special about your average enchanted sword. But if magic is rare? Or if certain spells are super-rare? Your best bet is probably a Handout, as found on the character sheets tab. I'm assuming you'd do this because you want something to look special, so best bet is: go online, find a picture of a piece of parchment, maybe yellowed, or water spotted, or whatnot. Paste that into powerpoint, or your editor of choice. Go to a font website you like, and find a neat looking elf/dwarf/dragon font. Write down the spell, and what it does, in a text block on top of the image. Save that, paste it into the images part of a handout, call it 'mysterious parchment' or whatnot. Then, let all players see it in the 'who can view' block up top. Second, change the font in the original to Arial, or Helvetica, or something else readable, and make a second handout, then only give access to those who should know/learn how to read it.
Never said thank you sure do thank you for your time.
This is a simple macro for a Burning Hands spell cast by a Goblin Warchanter /em gestures with her hands, as her thumbs touch together a Blast of Fire fills a 15' Cone, Burning everything within the Flames for [[2d4]] Points of Fire Damage. You can Make a Reflex Save of [[13]] to Take Half of that Damage. Not sure if this is what you were looking for, when these are attached to either player or npc tokens they are very convenient and help keep the chat window more organized and neat.
This one is a simple macro for Magic Missile: /em waves a crooked stick in your direction and points at you with a bony finger, a Bolt of Energy leaps from her finger tips and Slams into your Face delivering [[1d4+1]] Points of Magical Damage. You can see how easy this is.
Yea do you make hand outs for all the spell descriptions and to tag them for future scroll/magic item finds?
I usually place links to the http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ reference of the spell on my casters' character sheets so anyone can view the spell details.
