New to D&D any tips or kind souls to adopt me into group

I've always wanted to play but the battle sequences confuse me. Any tips or links to look at to help understand more? I would love to join a group would would accept a player for the EST from 18-2200 ish weekday. Any tips of how to play? I think I designed a relatively easy character by class and race.

Hi Samantha, I think the easiest way is to look on youtube for play-throughs for the game system of your preference. I'd also include what game system you are interested in (which edition), your days of availability, and your time zone in your post's title. Some DMs host games for beginners and that will help them find you.
