So, I'm considering putting together a game of Werewolf the Apocalypse (20th) and wanted to see if there was any interest before I get into building the game. Some info to help you decide if you might be interested: Story/Set-Up: Werewolves in the rural, small Southern town have it great. Plenty of woods to run and hunt in, plenty of freedom from fear of hunters in a town where most everyone knows everyone, and the occasional hurricane to spice things up and help clear out some encroachment of the Weaver on the small town. But like many small towns, there are some well known secrets that everyone ignores - until there's reason not to. When strange things start happening, a pack of young werewolves are sent out to investigate. Will this be their chance to gain renown and wisdom? Or will they add their names to the list of victims of these strange phenomena? (Vague as I have a starting point and general overall story arc to work with, but I also want the players to have a hand in what they experience.) About the Storyteller (me): -I've never been a DM/GM/ST before so I need players who can be patient with me and who won't mind growing pains as I learn how to play from this side of the screen. -I can't do voices. If wanted or needed, I could give it a try for the right group, but I can make no promises. -There are four types of players I'd prefer not to deal with while I am so new to being a ST: murder-hobos, rules lawyers, min-max'ers and attention seekers (players who can't share the spotlight). -Given the difficulty of finding what you're looking for in any WoD book, I will generally give a couple seconds to look and if I can't find it I'll make a ruling and move on. If you find I did some thing wrong, got a rule wrong, etc. please feel free to make a list and give it to me at the end when I ask for things I can improve on. I will make sure to go over those things to try to get it right in the future. But I don't want to take away from play just to look for a rule, especially as I will likely forget several things as a new ST. - I prioritize story and characters. I don't like combat purely for combat's sake, though being WtA there will be a fair amount of combat. I don't generally do too much focusing on politics in the VtM sense: betrayal, backstabbing, trying to one-up others, etc. If the character is interested in politics, I can work with that, but won't be as good as I'd like with it at first I'm sure. -Any questions about my (anticipated) ST style or the type of game I'm looking to run, please don't hesitate to ask. About the Players: -I'm looking for a laid-back group who can overlook newbie ST mistakes. NEWBIE PLAYERS WELCOME. -I'd be happy to have a group where after this campaign maybe we could take turns GM-ing World of Darkness games. This is completely optional, but if you might be interested this could be a great chance for others who have never been a GM before either. -I prefer players who make characters who are fun to play and fun to interact with, not players solely focused on numbers. (Character>min/max) There's nothing wrong with enjoying playing those kinds of characters, but they are harder to keep a game balanced for from what I've seen. I've played in games where the enemies were too tough for all the group but one. That was boring to play and harder to DM apparently. So please, no min-max'ers. I'm not skilled enough to run a game for that type of player. -Any questions about what kind of players I'm looking for, please don't hesitate to ask!
