Hello! Call me Adhock. Currently looking for another home for a long term character project. Groups just kind of fell apart on me and this character has been fun and interesting to the point I'm not willing to abandon her story. About me: 28 years old. Having enjoyed a cumulative 2 years in various Game Types ranging from 3.5, 4, SAGA, Shadowrun, and 5e with the last one being the latest. I've had a few sessions under my belt and feel like I have a comfortable grasp of the rules. Huge Star Wars fanatic and Lore Master. Honestly I make a point to dig deep into the lore of any setting that catches my attention since I like to understand the world around me. Figuring how this culture became that way and what impact wars have had on a small town in the middle of nowhere. Finding the hidden connections between events and how they shape the universe. I can be a little rough around the edges and speak honestly. To which end I'm fairly open minded and very curious. Just don't expect me to be a doormat. I suffer from 'Black Thoughts' which can make me appear jaded and cynical at times. To which there's little that disturbs me and I can be a bit morbid so feel free to be as disturbing as you like with your setting. For the most part through I'm more interested in the lighter side of things and the character being as mischievous as she is, I much prefer to go for the humor side of things. If I can make people laugh in a session and keep them talking about the incident for awhile then it was a good day. I've got a pretty good 'dice fall as they may' attitude as long as it fits the narrative the DM is telling. If the dice say it's a screw up, I'll look for one chance to get out of the bad situation, otherwise what happens happens. What am I looking for?: I'm a working stiff who's hours vary greatly over the workweek. I'm a -5GMT (EST) timezone and the best times for me to game are usually Friday after 7pm through the weekend until Sunday 11pm. Generally I try not to stay up too late so I can stay on a stable schedule. Sleep deprivation is dangerous in my job. Preferably I'd like to call it a day before midnight. My company tries not to keep me too long after 7 and I have to work the occasional Saturday but I usually know in advance when that happens. If you can work with me in these timeslots that would be great. I like worldbuilding and digging into the Lore of the world so RP is a big factor for me. Not everything has to have an elaborate backstory but expect me to go looking for it. As this character is a long term project, expect to have just as much impact in shaping her story hopefully as much as she helps to shape your setting. I like my combat epic with a decent pace. Expect more grandiose descriptions of combatants dancing around each other deflecting, parrying, angling attacks, bleeding, recoil, sound effects, striking certain targets at each other and less, "I attack." "You miss." "You do X damage." I would expect at least 2 or 3 encounters per session (1 if it's a short session) to be a good day. The fun part of exploration is running across puzzles. Sitting around puzzling out elaborate traps and encounters can be a fun experience. I don't expect there to be one every session but running across that one fancy puzzle and solving it feels good. I'm not afraid to suggest returning to the location if I can't solve it right away. I'm interested in the concept of Powerbase building. Gaining followers, setting up a home base, and having things to do during 'downtime' between adventures into the field. Also as part of the character's story, opportunities to train in new skills and languages is necessary. The little things that help flesh out a character and shape how they see the world. If you think you can provide this, then here's who you're adopting! Kyinaye Artic Level 9 Rogue (Assassin) (Charlatan) Chaotic Evil "Others are born lucky. I was lucky to be born." About her: The bastard daughter of a 'working girl', she has walked the wrong side of life for years making her fairly morally ambiguous. Driven by selfish desires and a talent for lying, cheating, stealing, and killing, she stalks both the Underworld and the world of Aristocrats alike seeking to make all her own and humiliate those who think of her as lesser. Falling in with an Adventuring company who provided her with the kinship she so desperately craved, life was good until a series of unfortunate events brought her happy days crashing back down around her. Having sworn an Eternal Oath of Revenge on those responsible for the deaths of those most important to her, she wanders the world seeking the power necessary to ascend to Demigoddess status in order to match the power level of those she seeks the death of. Vengeance will be had. And it seems her Dark Goddess has given Kyinaye her blessing on this quest as she may have found a way... OOC Info: Kyinaye is a mischievous joker with a broken psychopath side. She simply just doesn't have the same morals as other people and isn't above playing dirty to get her way. Kyinaye isn't so much a murderhobo as she is practical. Death is a tool to her and if people can be useful to her then there isn't a reason to kill them. If they are useless then it depends on how much they impede her goals. Those who stay out of her way won't attract her attention. Only those who seek to block her progress or kill her will find her knife in their throat. She plays true to the idea of an assassin and a trail of bodies leading right to her is not exactly conductive to her well being. If you can pay her well enough, then she can be easily persuaded to match her ideals to yours. Her story is ongoing and it likely won't end until she gets to a point where she can achieve her goals. She may be shaped by many DMs and it will reflect that. Such points such as her Quest for Vengeance to her Comical Mistrust of Oranges are traits you can impact. Aurua Tevlach Level 8 Fighter (Champion) (Soldier) True Neutral (Kyinaye above all others) "I am a Servant of the Charlatan Queen. Where she goes. I follow." About her: Aurua is a retired Veteran NCO. She is battletested and follows Kyinaye with unquestioning loyalty. Aurua follows the same Dark Goddess as her Mistress and believes she has been sent to Kyinaye by this Goddess as her shield and companion. Stotic and unyielding, she will defend her Queen to the death in the face of any foe. Kyinaye has come to adore her "Shield Captain" and has seen to it that Aurua has the necessary equipment for the job to include what has become her signature Legendary Blade. There are times where she can be exasperated with her charge but will unflinchingly obey any command given by the younger woman. OOC Info: Aurua is the result of Kyinaye getting a lucky draw out of a Deck of Many Things and getting the "Knight" card. (She was not the only one to draw and the entire event traumatized her a little bit.) She more or less functions as Kyinaye's bodyguard and bulwark in combat. Aurua is EXTREMELY well battletested having held her own going toe to toe with an Oger, Young Dragons, Drakes, Gnolls, and going full Belkar against an overwhelming number of undead ( EIGHT multi-attacks and it still took them THREE rounds to bring her down! To which the healer immediately stood her back up and she proceeded to hack ALL of them to death with 6 HP left!) Due to her nature as a surprise reward, Aurua isn't entirely all fleshed out so it's highly likely your setting may have an impact on shaping her. Possible Questions: Chaotic Evil Rogue? EWWWW!! Yes, I'm aware of the negative stereotypes surrounding this choice. I don't care. Mainly for the reason I don't play 'Chaotic Stupid'. I try to play Kyinaye more as mischievous and intellgent then murderhobo. If Kyinaye kills somebody, then it was ether the result of a "Fight or Flight" or she has a deeper reason for it. Wanton Murder just because someone exists is not in her psych profile. She wants to AVOID prison and will actively take steps to ensure she stays off the radar of the local law enforcement. So no, there won't be wanton blood sprees with finger pointing at alignment trying to use it to avoid consequences. Same goes for the Rogue aspect. She didn't choose the criminal life. It dragged her kicking and screaming into it. (She's enjoying herself now!) Kyinaye has been through enough fights to know she has better chance of survival with a group then on her own. Stealing everyone's stuff to make them less effective and stabbing them in the back to reduce their numbers kind of runs counterintuative to 'safety in numbers'. Any group she runs with tends to fall under the narrative of 'You're ether paying me enough to care about your goals' or 'you look like you could be useful in helping me complete mine'. As such, you can expect her to work with whatever group she's currently following around. (Fair warning: Attempting to cut her pay and friendly fire incidents will sour her mood. No guarantees anyone doing ether repeatedly can sleep with both eyes closed.) (Fair warning: Stealing from party will only take place during games of chance. Players must consent to risking playing with a cheat before any theft will take place. Otherwise your coin is safe.) Do I have to pick a character?: No. In fact due to the nature of Aurua's existence, you must take both and both will be actively played. No exceptions. How does Aurua work being a DoMT Knight Summon?: The DM she was summoned under ruled her to be a full lv 4 PC fighter. Essentially I would be controlling two characters who both received XP and Aurua could level up as if she were a Fighter PC. Her stats were assigned by the DM in addition to the racial stat bonuses and I fleshed her out as the Champion archetype from there. Aurua receives full XP but does not receive any cut of the momentary rewards. Kyinaye ether has to pay for her equipment or share her cut with Aurua. Item rewards won't be turned away but I fully expect and encourage that any other Fighter PC's get priority over Aurua. It's Kyinaye's job to ensure her Shield has what she needs to survive. Are you willing to adjust to a level?: This depends entirely on the setting you have going. If I like the setting enough to really want to play in it, I'm willing to go as low as level 5. Reason being I will be carrying over items and gear the two have acquired as much of it is related to building their story. Otherwise they come as is. Are you willing to consent to item review?: Absolutely! You can contact me privately for a rundown of the current gear and inventory. It is however a rather all or nothing affair. The reason being is that I enjoy crafting items as much as looting them. Aurua's sword for example is an excellent example of several lucky crit rolls during a very expensive crafting session that involved killing a dragon, harvesting it, networking in the capital, and persuading the best craftsman in the land to forge her weapon. This took three to four sessions to do so. And it was not cheap nearly bankrupting Kyin. There are still some unknown properties that future DM's can contribute should Aurua be present at the time of achieving level. The same will go for Kyinaye. If you don't approve of any of it, then it's the same as rejecting an application. I'd like more details on X/Y/S/H: Contact me privately and I'll spill.
