LFP/MATURE RPG: D&D/Savage Worlds, Low Fantasy Genre, “The Lion of the West”

Yes hello folks, it is that time again! A new RPG is opening up, hosted by myself (largely making maps and Co-GM) and run by another. It’s a custom world that will be using D&D or savage worlds rules; mostly on player preference.  The setting will be in the continenrcof Altea in the country of Gallias; a sort of Byzantium. A war between their eastern territories and their religious zealot northern has begun to fracture the empire; and our players will be playing the role of retainers or members of royal houses who will attempt to save the realm. Or maybe destroy it.  Our story will be based loosely on the War of the Roses, a Dark Low-Fantasy (limited magic) re-telling. It will contain mature themes and will be of a more realistic or serious bent, so your characters will develop and possibly be maimed or killed based on your choices. Think of a mix of the Witcher and game of thrones for general setting.  We do have some requirements. -18+\Legal Adult age for respective country, due to exposure to mature sexual themes, violence, and possible unexpected pouncing from biloceraptor players. -Writers NEEDED, you need to be able to write and play your character outside of schedules sessions as part of roleplay to get the most out of this campaign. -we frequently ignore rules that don’t make sense; we are about story, not crunch. If you wish to get a +5 scepter of assmaiming, this isn’t a game you will enjoy. -Roleplay Discord server exists for between session interactions. -Smaller skirmish/quest sessions available per player feedback/request/opportunity  If you are interested, please comment or note :) more info is always available. You May also leave a discord or telegram or email here or in personal messages and I will reach out in that medium.
The Gallian Collapse The story is centered around the ruling houses of the Empire of Gallia. Beneath their Benevolent Empress and their family line, the House of Estic, Gallia has flourished for the past 1000 years, uniting the central landmass of the major western continent of Altea, known as Gallias. The game will be starting in the year 4992. The Empire grew, knowledge grew, civilization grew. It was largely a time of prosperity, but an Ancient Prophecy stated that the Empire would rise and fall. Nobody paid this much heed; Gallia was able to defeat the Tribes of Avrasia to the North, and Orestes to the South, and kept diplomatic relations with the Empire of Khanaan on the Eastern Continent. Between those powers, little could challenge them. Then came the Collapse. Nobody knows what caused it; it's said to be the work of the Gods. Altea was once orbited by two moons; in the year of 4413, these Moons collided, causing natural disasters and wreaking destruction upon the land. Only the remains of one broken moon remain in the night sky, with a vivid ring of debris around the planet. The Gallian Empire persisted through the collapse; but not without cost. They lost a large amount of their progress; fragments from the Moonfall as well as other natural disasters devastated their domain.  The Northerners in Avrasia, always superstitious, blamed it on the Gallians freely and recklessly calling upon the powers of the Gods (using magic), and it wasn't long until they declared independence. In the years following the Moonfall, Gallia was in no position to reign them in. Their own twisted, bizzare warped religion resulted from this; Avrasia is now a state ruled by Puppets where the Church's Holy Inquisition Holds all the power. They declared a crusade against all non-believers, and invaded northern Gallia in 4992 after consolidating power. In Gallia, the Eastern part of the continent of Gallias, known as “Praesia”, has risen-up in revolt, demanding a government of elected representatives over Feudalism. These representatives happen to be all members of royal families, but when has true purpose ever mattered over an easily-swallowed Lie? It's always easier to point blame at a single tyrant 1000 miles away than 100 tyrants one mile away. The Land is hurt; the Moonfall was a major event that rained debris and darkness upon the land, temporarily throwing the planets climate out of place, causing an ice age and causing the seasons to become unpredictable as Altea has moved from it's original access, with tides, now bound to only one celestial body, rising high and covering up 30% of land that was previously inhabitable. While the land has recovered, the damage can still be seen, and cities that were abandoned or deserted and other places lost to time litter the land. In this great time of Strife, the Empress has called upon her three Kings; King Fidelus Rynn of Galicia; the Southern part of Gallia. Queen Moriya Ronzo of Fendrel, of Central Gallia. And lastly, King Maxim D'Rohan of Heideholm, the King of the Northern Territories of Gallia.  There was a fourth King, King Orestes of Praesia. The King has refused summons and has not used his troops to quell the rebellion in Praesia, or communicated with the crown in any way. The Players will all be retainers or Nobles of Major Houses, pending creation decision and choices, of King Maxim D'Rohan of Heideholm. A few other notes regarding this setting. -There are other countries and nations, more info can be provided as needed. -Women have equal rights everywhere except Avrasia. -Orestes, Praesia, and Avrasia have legal slavery. -Marriage between blood relatives is regularly practiced with no stigma. Polygamy is also legal, though a First-Spouse is often the one that is considered for purposes of legitimacy. Marriages can be Matriarchal (marries into brides family) or Patriarchal    (marries into grooms family), as men and women hold the same status but there -is- generally considered to be a head of household.  -There is a code that is similar to Chivalry. Nobles are generally not to be harmed; their power is assumed to be granted by the Empress, who has her power granted by the Divine.
What day and time are you looking to play this?
For the small quests and skirmishes, I’m willing to run those as needed with the other GM. For the major events, I’d like to do at least weekly or bi-weekly. I haven’t sent down a day yet for purposes of scheduling. For my games, side missions tend to do more to advance the plot than actual story, and I don’t mind running 3-5 of those a week if i have the time
Well I'm looking for a bi weekly Friday night game around 7 or so PM CST that last for a few hours.
That’s swingable; even if the main story events were on another day those hourscan be good for an active participant
Well I wouldn't want to miss the story events, doesn't seem like it be the best fit for me.
We don’t have a set time for those. That being said, Friday after 6:00 eastern is what I’d plan to shoot for, but we’re flexible enough to plan for a group
Well I will keep an eye on this thread and see how it goes.
Hi! I would like to join I think. I am however new to tabletop entirely but would very much like to learn. I also don't have the rulebooks for any games as of yet, but as I said I'm willing to learn as I go. I do have a discord and while I'm more comfortable with just text, voice is also possible. I'm free any evening around 7pm CST sometimes a few hours earlier and I can be around for several hours after that. Let me know if you are still looking for people.
Brei; we sent you a side message in roll20 :) So far, we've got a few players, just two of them were inquiring about Nobles though. Could use 1-2 more still :)
I would like to join in this too.

Roll20 is being a bit dumb and wont let me DM you, but I'm intrigued.
Hey I would like to at least give this a try. I am not sure how it really plays by the description but if you are willing to let someone give it a test run I am more than willing. I have been playing DnD for about 6yrs and currently running a 1-20 campaign I wrote myself so I don't mind writing if needed. I have a completely open schedule except Thursday night 9est-1est and Saturday nights. I am looking for something I can really get into and play.
