magnification fails in firefox

I'm using Firefox (v62.0) and magnification is not working well. When working "normally", rollover or click on the magnification icon presents the current mag level. I can then move the mouse pointer to the number and click once to see the list of magnification levels. However, the moment I move the pointer into the list, the whole magnification menu disappears. I've learned that once the menu appears, the thing to do is use the arrow keys to move up and down the menu, then press Enter to select the new mag level. Obviously, not a smooth way to work. It gets worse. Once I choose a mag level less than 100%, the magnification menu no longer reveals itself. I would rollover the icon, see the current mag level, move over to that number and click. The shape a menu appears for a moment, and it vanishes, including the current mag level. At this point, it's impossible to select a new mag level. I've tried every way to make it appear, but the only thing that works is exit the game and return. Upon return, the mag level is back at 100%. (This issue doesn't occur when a mag level higher than 100% is chosen.) Let me point out that this is on a new installation of Firefox. It's hardly an hour old before this oddity presented itself, and the only add-on since installation is the Adobe Acrobat extension for converting Web pages to PDF files. Before this, I used Roll20 on Chrome. Magnification there works as one would expect. The reason I switched to Firebox is because of an ongoing issue with placing maps—the image kept getting stuck to the mouse pointer, among other things. A different thread suggested I turn off or remove all add-ons, which is a complete hassle because I shouldn't have to hobble my use of Chrome just for Roll20's benefit. (Would Roll20 like to restore all my add-ons when I'm finished with it? I doubt it.) I figured Firefox might be the answer. If maps behave—and they do—I would use Firefox just for Roll20. But no. Instead, I traded one inconvenience with another. I'm hopeful there's a simple solution. What is it?

This is a known issue.&nbsp; The best way to change magnification levels is to select the tool and then arrow up or down the list to the setting you wish.

Hi GenKitty. Thanks; I know about arrow up and down to select. But it works just once. As I described in my second paragraph of my initial message, selecting a magnification of 90% or less renders the mag tool useless, and I have to exit the game to reset it. So the "best way" really means: Select the tool and then arrow up or down the list to the desired setting. Continue work. If the selected mag level was 90% or less and you now need to change magnification, then exit the game and re-enter, and carry on with the next mag setting. I know I being snarky. But I want to be sure this issue isn't simply written off as a "known issue; here's the work around," because the workaround works just the one time, and then you have to take more inconvenient steps.

Your third paragraph about how to 90% or less is *not* a known issue -- I regularly zoom to 70% during combat and come back out to 100% for exploration. So that said, would you please carefully work through these steps of our guide to Solving Technical Issues ? Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome and Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable all add-ons/extensions and anti-virus programs. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through Step 4 . (Don't forget the complete Console Log!) Thank you!

Miromonti, a quick way to disable all extensions is to load Roll20 in a private browsing window. Unless you have an extension set specifically to run in Private Browsing, that should be a painless way to test. Alternative, you can do what I did and create a second user account on Chrome (for example) and run that one "clean". Roll20 asks for extensions turned off while troubleshooting to help eliminate uncontrollable variables while trying to track down your problem.

Hey Drespar. The slider on the top-right continues to work, and I've been using that lately. I've noticed that the magnification tool behaves the same way while zooming in and out with the slider: When I move the slider to 90% and lower, the magnification tool stops working in the manner I described When I move the slider to 100% and up, the magnification tool menu returns (at least until I again choose 90% or lower) The slider was a thank-goodness discovery because I now don't have to exit the game to reset the magnification tool. Here's hoping you find a solution.
