Map addons

I am not sure if this is already possible if it is please let me know how to do it. I am building a campaign 1-20 that alone will require a ton of maps. I am also including actual fortresses with multiple floors tons of rooms etc which is another ton of maps etc. I don't want to make them and put them all in the game (I could be wrong here) because I believe it would really start to bog down the load time and possible cause issues when switching maps etc. I would like to be able to import/export maps I make elsewhere as needed to alleviate this issue. You have where if you purchase a tile or map pack you can just addon when needed is there a way to do it if you make your own maps? I am not sure this is the correct forum for this but it was the only place I thought it would fit.

As this is more a "How can I solve this problem?" than a suggestion, I will move it to the proper place so you can have your vote back :)

Justin, you can do that right now. Build your maps offline or on another site and download them to your computer then just upload them to a dummy game you created. This puts them into your art library and you can drag the maps out from your library anytime you want to into any game you create, not just the game you uploaded them to. Many pro subscribers have dummy games so they can upload or create maps then setup various features ( dynamic lighting , Advance fog of War , etc) then use the transmogrifier (pro feature) to move those pre-prepared maps into their running games.
but I want to use the cool stuff I have in roll20, also I am horrible with computers as is so having to learn another program (roll20 im 200+ hrs still barely understanding it all) would make my head explode. Why have all this great map building stuff and not allow it to be usable. I want to do what you are talking about transmogrifier thing but would like to build the map on roll20 is that possible or is the only way to do this is a separate program? If so I think I have come up with my own solution and thats to just make different games for the same game lol. It will probably be like 8-10 games for the one game but it seems the only real solution and saves me upgrading. The main reason I don't upgrade is that all the main features you get on Pro is beyond my scope of understanding. API scripts etc no chance I will understand it. I barely understand macros lol.

You can build maps inside Roll20 with the various art packages sold in the Marketplace but those maps would exist in that specific game unless you use the transmogrifier or duplicate the game (then remove anything you do not want in the copy). You can also download the same art packages and build your map on your computer (offline) with any photo program (I use gimp). I barely use the various features but you do not need to understand the code, unless you are building an API script, to use them. Many of the existing scripts are one click install and have their commands listed so you can incorporate the commands into macros.
How exactly do you download the same art packages and build your map offline? I can't even print a character sheet guessing there is a way to do that so trying to pull a rock or tree off of the site I will need a little help.

There are several options: 1) You can build a map on Roll20 using all your pieces, and download it in a series of screenshots. This will require an external image editor 2) You can download individual art items in your library by placing them on the tableto, pressing "Z", and rightclicking and saving hte resulting image to your hard drive. Again, this would require an external image editor to build the map. 3) You can build simpler maps. The main hog in maps is the size in terms of units across and down, and the number of elements on the map. One map comprised of dozens of pieces will run slower than 1 map that is a single graphic. Also, the number of tokens on a map can slow things down. As I understand it (I have heard many conflicting reports), maps and pages are not really a big load on your system if they are not currently being displayed. Characters are the big culprit, particularly characters with lots of spells since that really adds in a ton of data per character. Fortunately, as a Plus subscriber, you do have access to the Character Vault. It's not as convenient as the transmogrifier, but it would allow you to offload characters, particularly the more complicated ones.
Thank you so much for explaining my options the pressing z was really what I needed the screenshot worked but came out fuzzy. I appreciate all the help and knowledge. Time to get to building :)
