Curse of Strahd can't see a map, only black and hexagonals

https://gyazo.com/a884222f35731ff6162fc06f9dbb4215 so the gm is trying to figure out how this all works and such, and we figured out how to let players see on 1 map but as the link shows, the other map (a big 1 by the size) is just black with hexagonals. Tried fog of war, did nothing, tried advanced, tried players ribbon, tried emit light. nothing

Hi Madgunner, could you encourage your GM to swing by and supply screenshots of their page settings as well as their view of the map (a small portion that doesn't include spoilers would suffice). It is very difficult to gauge whether there is a user based issue or not from a players view/report sorry. Once we've ruled out the basics we can look to see if the problem could in fact be a player one, or even a specific persons issue. Thanks
Hi! I'm the GM - Here are the screenshots you suggested: I hope this helps. :D
all the players have the problem for that map
I would turn on Global illumination for the map and make sure all the player tokens are on the Token layer and that they all have sight. Or you could set each token with a light source and not use global illumination.
From the pics it looks like you didn't check off the "Has Sight" Box on the tokens.

Observations: That map looks very dark. All lighting and hiding/revealing options are turned off. No token sight should be needed. The map page background is set to black, which is what the players are seeing. My conclusion: The map was somehow accidentally moved to the GM layer. It becomes semi-transparent, appearing dark and faded for the GM, and invisible to the players. Remedy: Switch to the GM layer, right-click on the map and send it to the map layer.

Hmm, on closer examination, all of those screen shots were taken with tokens selected while on the map layer. All tokens should be on the token/objects layer, all maps should be on the maps layer, and only things invisible to the players should be on the GM layer. I do not think that particular page has an Dynamic Lighting elements, so that layer should probably be blank.
On the side - you just broke the 4th wall as a GM ;-) lol Ranger Lost said: Hi! I'm the GM - Here are the screenshots you suggested: I hope this helps. :D
dw, im being careful not to look at anything that'd give us a hint ;)
hahaha I am trying to keep it tight! :D They can see the map now, but I'm having an issue getting the fog of war to dissipate as they move - or even illuminate where their player tokens are located. :-/

Those are different features. Fog of War is completely manual. You just show or hide areas of the screen. Dynamic Lighting shows areas that a token can see, based on lighting and vision settings. Advanced Fog of War keeps areas that have already been seen, revealed. All three can come into play on a single map. Which particular one seems to be giving the problem? And was the original problem indeed based upon things on the wrong layers?
Just going to put it out there. That map is massive, it may cause loading issues for players with lower bandwidth.
@keithcurtis - yes, the original issue was resolved with correcting the layers. Thank you! I have also resolved the fog of war business. We got it figured out and it's working great. Thank you everyone for your help! I'm so excited to get this campaign started!
