[LF2P][5e] Ilderon Tales: Brothers in Arms part 2

1537667861

Edited 1537668203
Overview The city of Ardor was nearly destroyed when caught between two clashing gods. As a result of their fight, a permanent swirling tempest of souls rages over the foreign city. Citizens and travels run the risk of being possessed by the restless spirits while traveling through the region. The Celestial Magnate who leads the city and country has tasked her court mages with finding a solution to closing the portal. This is another dangerous decision in a current line of events resulting in the mysterious mages gaining more political power. As faithful servants of their Magnate, the party has decided to protect the mages as they excavate a newly discovered magical material from the ruins beneath Ardor's castle. About the Campaign Brother in Arms is also known as Group B. The campaign is apart of the Ilderon Tales Campaign Style created to allow large scale story telling across multiple groups and campaigns. The simplest explanation would be a meta-narrative much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe structured in a way to allow the individual players and groups to be the heroes and focus of each branching story. The players that play in this particular branch of the campaign are faithful knights of the newly appointed Celestial Magnate who functions essentially as the queen of the region they're in. The players witness the last two magnates be assassinated, and they picked and appointed this new ruler, so they protect her with a fervor that can only be described as a parent's love. This group has a heavy focus on roleplaying and storytelling.  About the Group If you like wild extravagant tales with high stakes you will be at home in this group. This group focuses heavy on story telling and how their decisions have a geopolitical impact on the rest of the world. That said, they make some of the hardest decisions that lead to the best moments of roleplay. Every character will have their morals challenged and get to decide if their principles stand up to being tested. About the World From humanity’s first steps on Seadale to the ruins of dead empires sleeping under the sands of Galken, Ilderon has been a lost plane isolated in the vast darkness of the multiverse. Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about how the plane came into existence. Gods and mortals walk the lands and sail the seas of the material plane while untold horrors remain locked away out of sight in an endless demi-plane known as the Bridge. The entirety of existence was once united behind the Goddess of creation, but in her silence humanity found new gods. When the dire conflicts of history called for heroes, four mortals answered the call and Ascended to the status of deities. The wars that birthed the great heroes birthed even greater foes who still inhabit Ilderon and continue to stir the winds of chaos. The country-sides have survived war after war and shattering after shattering. However, nothing changed the landscape of Ilderon more than the Second Shattering. While the world survived, a new race of half-man half-undead monstrosities spawned. The remnants of the war left sentient soul eating beings known as Tierii wandering around the world. Neither good, nor evil, the undead people struggle to find their place in Ilderon amongst its clashing political powers, old gods, new Ascended Gods, timeless beings, and broken-but-not-defeated humans who all roam the material plane trying to survive the building storm. About the DM Howdy doodles! I have been DM'ing for nearly a decade. I am a very story focused and RP heavy dungeon master. With a background in stand up comedy and writing Epic Fantasy fiction I bring a unique flavor of off-centered story telling to the table. My favorite type of games to run are political thrillers, my general philosophy: the scariest thing is not the monster lurking in the cave, but the scariest thing is what the unsuspecting person next to you is willing to do. Tipping is Encouraged but not expected This game encourages tipping the Game Master at a rate of whatever you want via Paypal or Patreon. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Just as some people decide to go to a movie theater on a Friday night, dnd can provide the same entertainment, but 10,000 times more engaging. When you have a proper DM who pours their soul into a campaign and works tirelessly to tell an expanding story with the players, the experience is nearly indescribable. I put a massive amount of time into making sure the world feels fluid and immersive. Tipping allows a dungeon master more financial flexibility in their life so that they can devote more time to the game they are running to ensure it is of a high quality and that the story and fun meets and exceeds player expectations. What Can you expect? Consistency and high quality story telling. I believe when you join our community of groups, players become more invested in attending the sessions and being engaged and actively participating in roleplay at the table. One of the things that really defines the experience is how much fun it is to see how one party's decisions cascade and affect other parties moving around the world at the same time. Player Application (Sessions will be every other Saturday beginning 7pm CST [Starting on 6th of October]) - Please include your discord username.  - Previous level of D&D Experience.  - Favorite aspect of D&D - Preferred class - Preferred Alignment Optional: - Two paragraph summary of a character idea or character's backstory if you have one in mind. Finally here is our  LFG listing , I look forward to playing with you!
This post is still active.
I'm currently at work so I can't put a full post yet, this is just a placeholder. I am an experienced dungeon master and player and I've been looking to join a group for a long time, but the dungeon master to play a ratio is way out balance on roll20 so it's been a nightmare trying to find anything. When I get out of work in a few hours I will write you a more detailed application!
- Please include your discord username.  DylanMarsh#9164 - Previous level of D&D Experience.  My previous experiences with Dungeons & Dragons, across various additions, is GMA mostly and occasionally playing in a campaign when I can find one. I haven't been much of a player in recent years due to my offline group of friends having difficulties with scheduling, and not being able to find a lot of GM's online. - Favorite aspect of D&D My favorite aspect of DnD is by far the role playing and exploration. I do like tactical combat, but I would rather have fewer fights that are meaningful then to do something like a Dungeon Crawl. - Preferred class I like to play classes that have a bit more of a role in the exploration and role playing, such as bards or Rogues, but I don't have any particular preference as long as the group has a good focus on the RP. I generally like to fill the gap of whatever players need, and enjoy making my characters with other people. I don't generally like to create a character and just plug it into a game, I'd rather do the session zero where we all make people together - Preferred Alignment In general terms, I don't pay any sort of mind to alignment because it can differ from time to time depending on the character, but I definitely like to play characters that are good or at least in part good and in part respectful of the law. I've played a shady character or two in the past but it's not really my cup of tea usually Optional: - Two paragraph summary of a character idea or character's backstory if you have one in mind. I think I would like to hear a bit more about the setting, and also wait to have a session zero with the other players before I come up with a character idea. I have no issues with coming up with interesting characters quickly. I hope to hear from you soon! Also, my writing is generally a lot better than this but I am using talk to text at the moment.
