THIS IS AN EDIT DONE 3 MONTHS AFTER THREAD IS CLOSED (To help any if this pops up in google searches): I found the reason.... Fog of War and Advanced Fog of war are two separate ways to reveal the map to players; when using just advanced fog of war it is best to uncheck 'Fog of War' Completely. alternatively just remember to reveal the map in sections AS WELL as using players dynamic lighting/fog to reveal the map. ----------------------------- Two pages were set up completely identically with the below settings - and i gave one of the characters a lightsource and made sure they all had sight checked using CTRL-L I could see what they coudl see and it was working fine from my end - but on the test map they were able to see how dynamic lightning was used and performed just fine buton the actual campaign map it was completely black? in the end I gave up and just revealed the whole map and they went through the adventure but I am at a loss to know why it performed on one map -but not on another? https://screencast.com/t/bCDmOo43KZ
Hi Boli, Could you please work through the template below? Additionally, what is the name of the game where you encountered this issue, and the maps on which it occurred? Description of setup Browser + Version Browser Addons/Extensions Operating System Bug Triage Results Please carefully work through to the first three steps of our guide to Solving Technical Issues : Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome and Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable all add-ons/extensions and anti-virus programs. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeed in resolving the problem, please thoroughly work through Step 4 . (Don't forget the complete Console Log!)

Game ID: 3716006 We had sound issues all night (unrelated issue) but everyone ended up on chrome - I am unsure which versions. I cannot replicate *precisely* the setup of map3 (where we had the issues) as I was clicking and trying every option before finally giving up and revealing the entire map, but originally the checkboxes and items on the map1 (shown above) were EXACTLY the same as ones on map3 (it was originally a duplicate of map1) and they were able to move around on map1 just fine and I was able to show off the benefits of dynamic lighting I copied their tokens to map3 and whatever they did or i did the map remained black. The only thing I can think of is when I added in the poloygons for the dynamic lighting they were somehow reversed so they would only be able to see the outside of the map? But using CTRL-L I was able to see through all their tokens just fine. Im afraid they did not pass on their console log; but given it was all three players and not the GM I suspect it is not browser related but something to do with the map itself.
Have you looked on the reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/roll20 there might be more information there!

Had a browse but sadly no-one had a similar issue. as I said what I did from reading the wiki it *should* have worked; i tested it and everything but no user was able to see the dynamic lighting, even though I had "had sight" toggled for each token, setup various lightsources... none of the 3 users were unable to see it correctly on one map - but were able to on the other. Honestly I am at a loss.. I did find out that my computer (0ver 8 years old) was actually the most powerful computer in the group though... but even then; dynamic lighting should have failed on all mas not just one.
It is possible that there was an uncaught error with the duplication of the map-- perhaps a dynamic lighting value was carried over that should not have been. Sorry that we were unable to fully figure out what caused this issue. If it happens again, please poke your party and see if they can grab a console log, and let us know with a new thread :)
