I want to GM something tonight.

I'm mostly familiar with DnD 3.5e, and I also have the 5th ed Shadowrun books. So, I want to challenge myself to try to get a breakneck GM session tonight. Any tips on how to do this crazy, crazy feat?
Players were forced into a labor camp as kids - don't know their true abilities yet. They start with a name and a race, nothing else. Together they hatch a plan to break out. When they try an ability for the first time have them roll the ability stat (swing a pick at a guard - roll your strength, listen at a door for perception = roll your wisdom, etc...) Improvise the heck out of it and have fun.
That... actually sounds kind of fun Destrier. Heavier on the RP aspect to make up for the lack of preparation. Also, I've never done 5e and have been wanting to try it.
I'd play, send me an email if you want to start. I've only really got 3.5 and pathfinder experience though.
or, you could always do a sandbox, and draw the map in as they explore. I have done that on a few occasions where someone just wanted a quick pick up game.

I had dinner plans, but am back on now. Thought about it on the drive home: Lots of improvised weapons at the start - grab what equipment you can as you go along. GM could present a series of challenges = get out of the prisoner's bunk house (or work area), deal with being chained together, take revenge on a guard? sneak out of the camp, evade the pursuit... for a twist have it end with the PC's arriving at a tavern (since that is where most adventures start). I would suggest having each player start with 2 characters and plan on a 50% mortality rate. I've been away from the game for 20 years - just learning pathfinder now - so I am not qualified to run it. If someone wants to GM, I will be the grey haired guy who has been here longer than anyone - known for loudly sharing his religious convictions with everyone.
I wanna play! : D
