I know it can be done, pretty sure I've seen it. Can't remember HOW though. If I have 3 players on Level 1 and 2 on Level 2 how do I get them separated?
You can find some additional information on it in the wiki as well: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Page_Toolbar#Split_the_Par" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Page_Toolbar#Split_the_Par</a>... Also useful to note: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Turn_Tracker#Turn_Tracker_on_Multiple_Pages" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Turn_Tracker#Turn_Tracker_on_Multiple_Pages</a>
Is there a way to split the chat and/or sound when the party is split so that they act as two independent parties who are not aware what the other group is doing?
Outside of using /whisper and /gm text commands, nope. I've heard some folks speak of running two identical campaigns simultaneously, but I really can't see that being all that practical.
Create a character sheet named Group 1 and then assign control of that sheet to the players / characters in that group. Then you can /w Group 1 and all the players in group 1 will see the message.
