Hi all. Trying my hand at DM'ing is getting a bit stressful for me. I am currently trying to DM my first game ever, The Curse of Strahd, with my family (6 PC's total). Because of having so many players, it gets hard to play consistently since there are that many more chances that one won't be able to play due to fatigue or "life stuff". I get a bit stressed out having 6 people kind of stare at me in scrutiny for 4-6 hours a week (when we can manage, lol) and I'd really like to be able to kind of relax and take things as they come as a PC again. I'm pretty easy to get along with, but do like to make a lot of jokes and puns, so I hope you're okay with that. I've only played 1 other campaign to completion, which was Hoard of the Dragon Queen with the same group. It lasted about 3 years and I played a really terrible warlock (lvl 7)/ rogue(lvl1) who bumbled around forgetting/not really knowing he HAD spells and mostly "home-alone'ed" my way through our encounters as a lvl 1 rogue with 8 lvl's of hit dice, lol. If you were wondering, I actually managed to NOT die, though the invocations I took inadvertently turned me in the "face-man" for the group. A handful of situations would go something like this: [Evenwood (my character) is currently trying to steal something inside the mayor's house to get some info. I get a good perception roll and hear someone coming... It's the freaking town mayor! Quickly use disguise self and somehow manage fool the mayor I'm with some sort of distant authority using proper nouns I heard elsewhere (I tend to take moderately good notes) and proceed to charm the mayor into letting me and my party screw him over, but for a good cause...? (lol) ] I am always about the table having a good time, and not just myself. I have no qualms with giving other players the limelight or pushing them into it when it seems like they'd be a great fit. (Example: Our dragonborn was kind of ambushed by a large group of lizardmen while we were in a swamp. She was kind of grasping at straws in her attempt to talk her way out, (she usually solved situations like these with violence) when one of them said she may be a god or something since she was pretty imposing and she was using step of the wind at the time. Light-bulb! Getting really good rolls on his stealth and slight of hand checks, my character crept up near her, hidden in the underbrush, and handed her a potion of control water. Using telepathy, my character then said "Use the potion and show off some godly powers!" Long story short, she was treated like C3PO when he was on Endor and took over the fort the bad-guys were occupying with the help of our Ewoks - er, I mean lizardmen. lol) Well, thanks for you time everyone.
