Cyberpunk 2020 - Friday Nights Fire Fights

I would like to run a Cyberpunk game and thus want to measure and test and interest of such game first.  The exact way of these games is yet to be decided, it might be highly episodic and mission orientated, or focusing or a larger storyline, all depends on what we seem to fit in the end. In theory I would use the core book without any real modification, so it is a retro vision of the 80s and 90s about our future. very different then ours. With some work however it can be updated, set the timeline differently if we decide in the end. At the moment I am thinking to focus on more street level feeling, gritty and dirty urban settings (Night City or somewhere else). If you interested please do tell me your vision and ideas.

I am interested. Due to other commitments I cannot commit to long campaigns atm, but I would love to take part in an episodic game. I would like to play an old school anarchist hacker full of revolutionary lingo and 90-ies hacking stereotypes.

Sounds like a good plan, even in a larger campaign, a hacker/netrunner appearing episodically sounds like a great thing, usually Netrunners are a black sheep in a campaign due the different playgrounds. I like that. So just a couple of ideas which had in my mind, and I am open to more of course. 1) A gang/neighbourhood watch/local (city) level freelancers group in a cit 2) A small corporation or mercenary company, or some structured political group/agency, but more on the low level spectrum. For example a really small security corp, or bodyguards/mercenaries, industrial spies, some specialised tech company. The following ideas for the setting's place: Night City: your newly developed Californian dream setting as in the book (Screw LA and SF, Night City where you should be). Your regular Cyberpunk setting. Firefights, violence, drugs and rock and roll.   One of the big Japanese city. Less guns, more pressure in society, but not much less fun. Due the different Life Path structures I rather not mix the two settings, Pacific Rim sourcebook's lifepath for Japanese and Korean characters are awesome but a way more powerful than your regular one. If mixing somehow arise, I need to find some middle ground to compensate the differences. Orbital campaign: either a tight group of workgangers of some independent or abandoned workstation, who have to do odd jobs to get the income flowing, or some small company/corporation specialising to provide space related services. Salvage missions, mercenary/security corp, industrial spying or sabotage, etc. In this setting again, the environment is slightly different than your regular Night City, more environmental hazards, less guns probably. And I forgot to add a possibility of a nomad family centred game. What kind of family? Perhaps some dominantly Native American tribe went nomadic and hit the road? Some farmers who lost their jobs due the agricorps and now travelling around for odd jobs? A travelling circus/entertainers? Some more odd family that live from something else (smuggling? high tech jobs?).

If we are goin "all in" on the retro cyberpunk feeling I think a criminal gang or a group of local freelancers in Nightcity with occasional excursions into gang controlled badlands sounds like the "right" way to go about it :)
Interested, subject to schedule and compability.   I recommend a world-building session...though this is highly contingent on the group.  I am open to pretty much any role, maybe ex-corp merc solo, fixer, (med)techie.  Oh, more house rule suggestion, have a netrunner be a real-time hacker.  Overwatch, hacks cameras, security...but w/o the full dive netrun mechanics.  He is in the same time sync as the rest of the team. :) Metal is better than meat.
I would be interested in this depending on what time it is. I got quite a few suggestions if you do get the game off the ground. I would also be up for any role and would suggest a world building session as it would help with what the players want to do.that could be a fixed linear campaign with vehicle combat, or an semi open gang thing with an end goal of sorts.
I'm interested as well. Total noob to pnp. Just really intrigued and want to have fun. Flexible schedule as well
Great. I am flexible with time at the moment, and we seem to have a good base of interest. I will start to set up the game end of this week or early next week, so we can brainstorm further, have a "world building" session.
