Hi my
name’s Ramsey, I'm looking to find and join a like minded group of D&D 5E
players and a solid DM that comes prepared. I like to get into the RP of
my character, but I also really enjoy having fun and working as a group. My timezone is EST/EDT, I’m looking for a Friday game
starting after 7:30pm or a Sunday game that starts at 11am-6pm. I’m open to
joining a paid game. Maybe
I just have really bad luck but I've joined and left too many campaigns on here
because I've encountered a lot of the following and I would love to find a
regular game to join where these things aren't an issue: -attendance, people missing 2-3 sessions without letting the
group or DM know. -unprepared
DM, I’ve sat thru sessions where 3 of the 4 hours was “theater of the mind” or
it took 20-25 minutes between turns in combat with only like 7 people in the
initiative order because the DM didn’t have things ready or wasn’t telling
anyone to hurry up(these were level 1-4 games too). -not
having any fun, I really don’t understand this kind of RP. Why spend 3-5 hours
a session being super serious the whole time while playing a game? Let’s get
into drinking contests, slay some bad guys, save some people, collect cool
stuff, try to enjoy ourselves, and have some fun while we’re doing it. -people
who barely get into the RP, whenever you ask the DM a question they try to
answer for the DM, their character wasn’t in a private conversation but they
pretend like they knew all the info anyway, don’t participate in group
discussions in game, or you have to constantly ask “still there?” because they’ve
just been sitting silently for the past 2 hours - Not working as a group/team ,
I'm really surprised at how many people don't make an effort to do this, and
this is the main reason I'm posting on here. I can't tell you how many
campaigns I've joined and left because people not only never stabilized or
healed each other, but they didn't put any effort into working as a
group. If our characters are going to be traveling days/weeks/months
together why wouldn't you befriend each other or at least be concerned if they
were hurt or making death saving throws? Here
are some of the things I’ve had happen in campaigns and what I’m trying to
avoid haha:
A new
member joined the group, didn’t introduce the character, barely spoke with the
party and kept asking for our most powerful magic item. A rogue who literally ran
away from any fight if he took damage and would hide while watching party
members go down. During a fight with a
dragon we had 2 wizards just kind of wander off separately to search of the
nearby treasure. A cleric who got brought back up by our paladin, when the
paladin went down he watched him fail a death saving throw, proceeded to take a
health potion for himself, and then walked away…..the Paladin died. I could go
on, but these are just some of the ones I can think of from a couple recent
games
