Play-by-Post Campaign Information
Looking for a game to itch that D&D scratch, but don't have an open evening or enough time to commit to a weekly or bi-weekly scheduled session?
Yes, I know that the term 'play-by-post' tends to turn people off when heard, but hear me out. I can promise an active game from my end - posting every day, multiple times a day. In addition to being able to constantly mold the game around what the players want to see, there will be a decent balance of roleplaying, combat, puzzles and other encounters. I also use a somewhat different style of 'taking turns' in combat, so that if the party does find themselves drawing weapons and loosing spells, we're not stuck in combat for a month of real-time.
Playing-by-Post is also great for you creative types who want to be part of a cooperative storytelling experience, which is what roleplaying games should be in the first place!
Why is this campaign Pay-to-Play?
I know it's a big turn-off to many people, but here are my reasons:
-Preparedness. Getting paid allows me to have more time to prepare for where the party is going, to flesh out the world even more and give you a game worthy of the time you commit to it. It also helps pay for tokens, maps, etc.
-Reliability. How many times has a game fallen apart on you because players just disappear or find something better to do that night? Putting aside the problem of timing for this play-by-post game, paying for a game gives all players a sense of ownership. If players enjoy a game, then they will be hopefully more reliable and everyone wins.
-Experience. I've been playing and DMing for over a decade, and hoarding all of that information and experience does me no good. Since I consider this campaign as my work and wanting to give all players the best possible experience, I can also devote more time to discussing backstories and more with players, as well as guiding new players in all things D&D.
This Campaign...
...will be 18+ only. Anyone that fits that bill will be accepted, regardless of RPG experience, gender, race, etc.
...will use Roll20 for character sheets and location/combat maps. The actual play-by-post action and other general chat will happen on Discord.
...will use the 5th Edition D&D rules. Character creation will use the 27 point buy system. A list of accepted races, classes, backgrounds, homebrew and UA will be provided to players upon being accepted into the party.
...will have a maximum of 6 players in the party. More time for everyone to shine!
...will start characters at level three and take them as far as we can. There is a LOT of world to discover and no rigid storyline, so it's the ultimate Choose Your Own Adventure!

If you need to take some time away from the game because of work, sickness, or anything else that comes up, you'll be welcomed back to the group if you'd like, or to another group that I run.
