[LFP] [5e] 3.5 DM looking to start 5th Edition

3.5 Veteran DM wanting to take the plunge into 5th Edition. Looking for some 5th people to help with my transition. Want to do a 1 shot for this Saturday Starting time 5PM Central to whatever. Game will start in the Forgotten Realms city of Phlan.
Hello, I just picked up the Players hand book and would like to give dnd a go, so I would like to join your group. Total NEWBIE, but I have played star wars d6 a long time ago so I have experience in role playing. Already have a few characters created via dnd beyond, I am interested in playing a half orc fighter.

I have a group of 3, with 1 total new player to D&D; not a single session under their belt. The only issue is the time, it may be doable, but being in Australia makes 5PM Central difficult, is 6PM or 7PM doable? Two of us, me and another guy, are experienced in 5E and he has several sessions of DM experience; all of which is at your disposal on your terms; no rules lawyering from us. I know two of us have not done Forgotten Realms, not sure about the third, so if there's something specific about that setting we'll need to be filled in on it. The new player does not have a usable microphone so she would be doing Text while listening to voice if that is acceptable. We're all well over 18+ so no children here, bring on the mature content at your leisure.
Cool I'll y'all a invite later tonight. Wondering if I should buy the Monster Manual.

From what I've seen of the Monster Manual in person, it's not required, but it does give you a lot of variety in pre-generated creatures. However, Volo's Guide to Monsters is also worth a look. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/bundle/2/volos-guide-to-monsters It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a resource document that you can learn the basics from and get used to creatures, it's probably a better bet to get the Monster Manual. That's my opinion on it though, both Volo's & MM are great additions to your DMing things.
Aye. Its me. Ya boi. Other guy Nolan was talking about
hello joe.
Well I bought the Monster Manual and Player's Handbook so I'm all in for 5th edition. I really want to start at 5PM central. The setup of new players and well as going some of the rules would be nice.
Anyone know if the DMG is worth buying.
Heya! If you still need a player I'm free on Saturday (and a 5e dm if you have any questions). The dmg is a really good resource, but I find I use it less the longer I dm. It'sl really good for when you start and for getting the feel of how the rules work in this version.
Need a couple more ppl for the game. Some 5th experts would be good.
