Shadowrun?

Just curious as to whether anyone actually plays Shadowrun around here. It's been awhile since I've played (3rd ed) and have been involved with SR since it came out. Unfortunately it's hard to put together a dedicated group of people who know how to play or are willing to learn. I've been reading up on 4e20th and am really wanting to get something going. If you have any experience with SR or are interested in learning to play...post here. Let's see if we can't get it started.
Would you be the GM?  GM's for shadowrun are the hardest to find on this site.  Players will come in abundance.
well my rifts game just collapsed so I have free time, I'm familiar with the system and have played before.
Would be very interested inplaying.
I'm interested in this.
Not to poach, but I've got a shadowrun game a brewin' on wednesday, maybe.
Depending on when it is played I'd love to.  Unfortunately with kids and work my only real available time is Friday or Saturday nights.
Times I am thinking are Monday nights or Friday nights after 8pm CT. I'd be willing to run something to start, but it would be very novice as my experience in actually playing SR is limited and it's been several years ago...AND I'm still in the process of learning the current edition. I've DM'd many D&D campaigns and adventures however so I'm not necessarily new to GMing. I'm also new to roll20 to need to get familiar with how that all works too. If someone else feels confident enough to jump into running a premade quickie for a night, that might satisfy the masses for a short time and help to establish a working group. Plus it would help me to get an overall idea of how SR runs via roll20 as a player, probably faster than me trying to figure it all out from scratch. Just thinking "out loud" here.
I am game for both a one-shot for you to get used to the system and for friday nights.
I'll chime in for Friday as well
Right on, Brent! I was thinking this Friday night we could see who all shows up and maybe spend some time putting characters together. And then depending on time, do some mock combat situations to get a feel for it. Then if you want, and it's enough time for you, we can do your one-shot next friday. By then...I should feel comfortable enough to have something going for the following week. How does everyone feel about that?
Sounds good, I already have 1 character created but I can build a different if it fits with the group better.  I am familiar with the rules and the general universe but not any specfic shadowrun lore.
If theres a slot open i would like to hope on never played but bough the book and can have a character ready.
I'd also love in if there's space available.
You guys should take a look into  Chummer the SR4 PC generator. It rocks. When you get it, go to Tools-> options and select the english language books to use, and then hit ok. Next go to Tools -> Omae and select show filter and in the Creator box type in Nebular(guy who made the generator). Then download the stuff he has as extras in each section. Trust me on this, its stuff you want.

That's about the gist of knowledge I have too Brent...which I think for Shadowrunners who may have lived most of their lives in poverty, or under society's umbrella of "normalcy", a lot of the history and other-world happenings in the SR universe would fall unbeknownst to many of them. I mean, there's a lot of things that have happened in the world I live in that I know nothing about lol...and I'm edumicated. So yeah...I think a lot of the SR world can sit in the background until it becomes pertinent enough within the storyline to bring to the forefront, in which case, the GM can help any PC that "should" know about it.
If we are going to do this Friday someone needs to start a campaign and post it here so we can meet.
If nothing else I'll start one up tonight after I get home from work (about 8pm CT). Then everyone can talk about what type of character they want to play and flesh out the group so the roles are covered. Then we can play around with the system a bit to get a "feel" for how everything works. Or if there's time and Brent is up to it, he can run a quick encounter or something. But mostly tonight will be for character creation and system familiarity.
Me run an encounter???  Did I miss something cause I thought you were the gm Eric.  While I know the rules and the setting I have never gmed any game.  That being said there is always a first time for everything
Cool ... can i join?  I have a covert ops / street sam character that is 90% complete  ... just trimming the fat.
I'd like to play if there's still room, I was(/am?) in a game with Brent D. (I'm Sawyer) on Mondays.
I won't be able to join tonight if that's when you're planning on starting, but I'd love to get in on next week.
I'd love to play ShadowRun. I'm free tonight if a game is starting! BOOM!

It's alright though...I think I'll have something ready to go by next week. Tonight will just be getting used to everything and making characters.
Sweetness! Eric I suggest you make the campaign and invite thru PM the folks in the thread before posting it in public or you may get swamped. If I read the thread right you have about 6 folks interested.
THIS! Unfortunately I see you guys are swamped... I feel almost afraid to ask, but should you have room for one more: how viable would it be for someone who'd get on at roughly 10 PM CT? Not for the one-shot, but for a full-on campaign, I mean.
Thanks for the interest Ars, but by 10pm we'll be in the thick of it. If there's a chance that you can be ready to go by 9...we might be able to work with that.
:P the time for me is unfortunately non-negotiable due to my being in school; it seems it was not meant to be~
When do you run the sessions? Normally how long do gaming sessions run? I am highly interested in SR, but unfortunately I have never played before, just read the books and most of the fiction.
At this point we've got a full group...unless of course there's someone who is able to GM a run or two.
I've never GM'ed. Thanks anyways.
