Fantasy D20 Modern Camapaign needs more players.

Greetings: I mentioned a D20 Modern Homebrew I will be gauging interest in running. The game is a very easy modified version with a few custom variants. I'm welcome everyone, young, old, male, female, that awkward place inbetween, by CouponDropDown">new and experienced Rp'rs. If your still reading here's a bit of by CouponDropDown">information . Game is called Otherworld. Its a unique world that that pulls from alot of fiction and fantasy and has nicely compiled them into a single realm. Setting: The setting is Highly evolved Fantasy realm, and what I mean by that is this: You are in the Year, 500AD or After Destruction. You are 500 years after what most refer to as the War of Sages. A global war that destroyed 4 out of 7 of Otherworld's continents leaving only 2 known and inhabitable. In that time, technology was all but erased and has been making a slow comeback over the last 5 centuries --------------------------------------------------------------------------- RACES: Humans: Humans are the most abundant race in the world, and the most confusing to other races, as their like are not unified, but rather broken into several factions that each have their own purpose and desires, unlike every other race that functions under a single banner. Humans are known for Technology which they have created to cope with the realization that their race is not as formidable with Magic or as durable as some of the other races. Although non proficient in Arcane combat, humans have the unique ability to channel their life-force energy into their weapons which they use to create devastating Sword Arts. Some Factions include but not limited to: Aria: The original first surviving humans of The War of Sages. Aria is the staple default Kingdom resembling a Camelot type heirarchy of council and Knights of the Round Knighthood. Aria enforces the peace in the Continent of Gamora where majority of the worlds population rests. They are a true lawful neutral. Elune: The Elune Knights are a sect of Holy Knights that study under the teachings of Murone, the first Paladin of the by CouponDropDown">Order . Although their faction rests in a few hundred their a ability to delve into the pure energies of their lifeforce allow them to use Advanced Sword Arts unique to them. They are the lawful good faction, believing that it is their duty to protect and defend all that wish to be protected. Sengir: The Sengir Knights, not unlike Elune, follow the opposite end of the Spectrum, welcoming the darkness and wading it in it, allowing it to empower them in frighteningly powerful Dark Sword Arts. Despite their teachings of darkness the Sengir aren't traditionally evil, finding a balance between welcoming the darkness yet not being swallowed hole by it.  Malestrom: The Imperial Army of Malestrom.  Most noted for their advancement in Magi-Technology, fusing Mana and human tech. Their Mechanical by CouponDropDown">Armor Vehicle (MAV's for Short) are the Mech's of the world, MAV's, once solely used to assist Mining excavations, now stand at 8-10 Feet tall, Armed with MajiCannons and basic shields. The Malestrom army see themselves to be the saviors of the Human race, "The Shepherds" believing themselves to be descendents of the Celestial race that forged the world. These Delusions have made them adopt a socialist imperial creed that demands the extermination of all non-human life to ensure the preservation of Mankind, (Which strangely excluded the dwarves, as they deem them to be merely among the "Sheep" or lower class of  humans to be herded).  After a defeat during the Imperial War, Malestrom rests inside its borders keeping a closed borders defensive agenda. [Without making this a novel I will end here on the factions, and merely state them as needed in game| ELVES: Elves, quiet and confined to their walls, were once a great majority, lording over everything in the world that resided on land. Rivaled only by the great Draconic Race. The elves function as a singular entity broken into 3 family sects under the same banner. The El'Rhim are the nobles who exist to deal with the politics and everyday troubles of their race. They govern the two other Houses: Eihlander: House Eihlander is the military sect of the Elves that resides in handling everything combat related on a first hand experience. Lagaza: House Lagaza is the most famed House as they were the first people to harness the power of Mana into Magic. The Lagaza are secondary famed for being responsible for the War of Sages, as the Seven Sages that controlled the Elemental Grimoires of Power were all of Lagaza decent. Although magic has waned in the world and is nowhere near the power of old. There are no more proficient casters naturally than a Lagaza. DWARVES: Dwarves are seemingly all but extinct, Their once great council destroyed as they were nearly genocide during the War. Even today, to see a Dwarve is a rare feat as the dwarves have assimilated into human populace. Believing their to be Cursed after the War, Dwarves all but lost their ability to harness mana. Despite this they are known for their ability to go into their stoneform, allowing their bodies to take extreme amounts of punishment and boasting a fortitude unrivaled by any race. LYCAN: One of the Beast races, that inhabit the land. Originally created by Orc Shamans, Lycans are the things of traditional werewolf legend. Humanoid wolven creatures that exude raw power, their ability to track, and stalk prey is uncanny and only contended by their Tygran counterparts. Their unique ability to duel wield massive two handed weapons make them feared in close quarters melee combat. TYGRAN: One of the Beast races, and Originally created by the Lagaza Elves, to counter the Lycan threat. These Tigerlike humanoid creatures are unnaturally agile and dexterious  boasting a speed unrivaled by any single race in existence. Their skin is resistance to all forms of magic, and their mobility allows them to evade impressively. PSIONS:[NOTE, These are not DnD Psions] The psion constructs, forged by the dwarves and later rebelling against them, are arcane constructs built sometime after the war. Extremely intelligent, consisting of AI like memory and fueled by arcane power, Psions boast occular prowess second to none. Their vision allowing them to view and mimic others abilities. Psions, not being a inherently living race, cannot heal themselves as normal but instead can drain and use mana to repair themselves directly.
This all looks very cool. I love the feeling of the lore. Is there more to read? I would definitely be interested in something like this.
VAMPYRE: The Vampyre are an unnatural cursed race of beings, surviving a final death, and living onto their undeath. They are not a race directly, as Vampyre consist of lycans, humans, dwarves, any living host that had been turned. They are a conglomeration that were said to be remnants of the Death sages army who had not perished or returned to the earth. Vampyre are in tune with their body, although not technically living, they employ Blood Magics to enhance their abilities and bolster their fighting styles. Not being able to be healed by normal means, a Vampyre is still very much durable as they naturally regenerate their bodies and are able to drain the lifeforce from their enemies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technology: The Internet has not been invented, although Computers are a common seen, but uncommon technology reserved only for Kingdoms and Military personal. Automobile's do not exist as forms of travel although Horses are a common everyday form for the average traveler. Steam engines are extinct as well, where as are most natural resources including electricity. The only natural resource that exist in the world is Mana, a naturally occuring lifeforce that exists in all things, which every world power feverishly extracts and mines from the earth into Mana Crystals, which act as Modern batteries for life tasks. These Mana crystals power everything from lights and said computers, all the way to Guns and cannons (As Gunpowder isn't a natural resource) to the Imperial Knights Mobile Assault Vehicles (MAVS for short). MAVS are the closest form of Tank weaponry that the Human Military has to offer. Almost purely owned by the Imperial faction of Humans Although Automobiles do not exist, Air travel is common in the form of small transport ships, again mostly controlled by towns and military powers. The Epitome of this technology is based upon the most powerful singular weapon the Old world has left: The Airship. Extracted from the Old Ruins scattered throughout the world, The Airship is the single leveling factor in Warfare, capable of terrible feats of strength only 11 Known Airships exist in the World. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAGIC: Magic is something less mysterious in Otherworld. Its something that is the manifestation of Mana, the energy that exudes from living creatures. Everyone is born with mana and what you do with it is entirely up to you. There is an easy system for creating spells and abilities and takes some time to develop (Great for in between sessions and downtime).  You envision an ability and start practicing your Manipulation of your given element to start developing what your trying to accomplish. After a number of success you've learned the ability and can now use it freely.  Every successful cast of a spell/ability you log on your sheet, and after x amount of uses. Your proficiency levels rises granting bonus's to it. -------------------------------------------------------------- CLASSES: There are no direct classes, Yours race will define your starting abilities to a degree and from there everything else is learned through feats, and the magic system. There are Classes perse in the form of Advanced Prestige. which requires finding someone of a particular Class (Elune and Sengir are considered classes in this respect) and having them train them in otherwise unobtainable feats and abilities. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISC: The Things changed that will be important other than there are no proficiencies.  I have always found proficiencies to be unimportant for some gaming realms. A gun, simple, you point and shoot, its not a very hard concept. Your accuracy is noted by your dexterity, and any proficiency would be covered in your level (world experience) and a weapon focus would give bonus's to something specifically worked upon and not a proficiency which removes an automatic global penalty. Armors the same. I've asked several Military friends of mine if they ever learned anything that made their body-armor and equipment any more effective. I got a resounding no, So I feel that wasting a feat on having to learn to put your chain-mail on is a little insulting, I would leave any encumbrances to a Strength modifier (You roll a 8 in strength, don't expect to be carrying 100kg of gear. Simple concepts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In closing I can't think of anything else to post about the game that's worthwhile. I'm looking for about 4 players. Its not a first come first serve, just drop me a line or a comment that your interest. and Apply, my Skype is Dekar2k5 so add me, and we'll talk. I'll see if your a good fit for a one shot run of the Game. If I get enough interest I'll run the full campaign as its a very long mod that allows for broad character development and breaks if necessary. Above all else guys have fun, and hope to get some interest.
