Token Auras On A By-Distance-Type Basis

This is something that as frustrated me for a while. To demonstrate, here's a token with a 5ft square aura: Now, if I'm playing in a system that uses, for example, Manhattan distance for measurement and am using this aura to represent a game abstraction (such as an AOE field), then this aura ends up being inaccurate. A more accurate aura would look like this: In short, what I'm suggesting is to have the page settings for distance measurement determine the shape of token auras, or alternatively, have an option to set the shape on the token itself. I have no idea how difficult this would be to implement, but it would save a lot of headaches in systems that use alternative distance measurement systems.
