[LFP] [DM] New DM looking for players for a weekly 5E game [PST]

I have been playing DnD off and on for almost 20 years. I have decided to give DM'ing a shot and would like to know if anyone else is interested in playing. Overall, I am more about collaborative storytelling and character-driven play than pure hack n slash tactical combat. I lean more towards "cool beats rules" and I consider myself to be fair when considering rules interpretations and game balance. I will start off with some small modules that I own and if the group works out moving into either my own Homebrew campaign or a really big module. I live in California and my availability is generally free though I prefer a game between Monday-Thursday. But I am open to weekends if that is the only time everyone can play. Standard rules and standard races/classes and we will be starting out at lvl1. Not all characters act the same once in the fire. Name: Dan Age: 28 Availability: Weeknights after 5pm EST Experience: About 100 hours in roll 20 and 5 years playing D&D.  A little about myself:  I played RPG's starting at a young age. As a kid we did live action  role play  for games with friends and as I grew up to love  video games  . WoW was a large part of my adolescence. Over the last few years I have settled down and do not raid anymore. But, I like the companionship of a group of people getting together regularly to have fun. I am an organized reliable person who holds down a steady 9-5 weekday job and enjoys playing games in my free time.  Character:  I'm flexible with my role in the party and my character.  I would want to know what campaign setting you have before I would be able to discuss race/class.  I have a great Arcane Trickster backstory I worked up for a curse of strahd game that didn't work out. I also have a paladin worked up as well depending on what the party needs .  I write a full backstory for all of my characters. I like integrating my characters backstories into the world they live as to create a more immersive environment.

Hello, and thank you for reading our application we are a group of 3 players (myself and 2 others all in CA) looking to join a campaign of D&D 5e Our availability is on Saturdays from 10a-8 or 9p The group is pretty laid back, open to many things and aren't afraid of a serious campaign One player enjoys casters such as mages and druid (Newer Player age 25 ~8 months of play), another enjoys playing the healer role (Newer Player  age 22 ~8 months of play), while the third is a bit  of a jack of all trades (More Seasoned Player age 26  ~8 months mainly dm'ing in 5e and just wishes to play for once as well but has 10+ years with TTRPGs). Wow, thank you, everyone, for the responses.  Pip and Nicolas let me know your time zones. And it seems like the majority of people prefer a weekly game. As for background and setting, I bought a bunch of 5e modules through humble bundle and they aren't from The Forgotten Realms or any Campaign setting I know about. So let's just start off and see what comes out of them. I might just make a world map, fit our initial adventures somewhere on it, and build out the world from there. I may also just buy a few official DnD 5e Modules and we might switch to them instead if I don't like the ones I have. Like I said I am new to DM'ing but I have been a Fantasy and RPG nerd for decades so I got some ideas of what I want to do. But for right now let's set the goals easy and set up a group, get a schedule and run a few sessions and let's take it from there. So don't be too worried about your backstory in terms of specifics, and once we have the group I will talk with each of you and we can work out the details if it needs addressing. Can every give me three days they would like to play from most preferable to least? I am on Pacific Standard Time but my time is generally available well into the night so we can start as late as people want. But let's establish a day first. In terms of character ideas, guidance, think of some cool archetypes or character personalities you would like to play. Once I get a feel for your character that might help me pin enough setting details down to help you all flesh out your backstories, and more than likely it won't matter much in the beginning as things might change. I'm in Central (GMT-5) time zone, and from best to least I'd probably say Sunday, Monday, Tuesday for myself on a personal level, though I am able to play most any day of the week.

I'm able to play most nights of the week. I'm EST so just 3 hours ahead of you. I'd prefer any day Monday-Thursday most preferred, Sunday would be second, and Saturday Least preferred/prohibitive day for me. As for cool character archetype, I can PM you my Arcane trickster backstory to get  a sense of personality. If you are trying to run a more serious game and trickery and mischief isn’t your thing I can run a more straightforward paladin to protect the party.

Interested here!  My Bio is pretty up to date on experience, etc.  Older guy, lots of gaming experience but not a ton of RPG playtime.  I'm Central (CST) in the US but prefer later times as I can't start until around 8 my time (kids bedtime).  So - would be great to find a group on PST time if it works out.  I consider myself laid back and this sounds fun.  LMK if you have space. As far as characters - I'm happy to fill.  I generally lean to "good / heroic" characters, like a Paladin, but would love to try something else, maybe more sneaky or truly "Neutral" aligned.  I can fill in some more details but would like to hear more about your plans for the group, too! Also - do you plan to use discord or anything like that?

Interested Californian fellow here! Same as Ben, my bio is up to date too. As you, I prefer the "cool beats rules" with a collaborative storytelling D&D approach. With this in mind, I would like bring a knowledge domain cleric to the group. I've never played a cleric, so it would be interesting to develop some role playing experience with it. I'm all in favor of using the core races; I'm not a big fan of having multiple options from other books. Anyhow, I think having a person in playing the the knowledge domain would bring a lot of opportunities for you as the DM to give lore/information about your ideas of a campaign and not to worry too much about when/where/how you would present the ideas you have for the adventure as it grows. My availability would be Tuesday or Wednesday after 5 PM. Possible Mondays too; however, Mondays at work are very busy with meetings and unplanned projects. Also, I don't mind helping out with running a few one shots whenever you need a break from the DM seat. Any thoughts on using video chat? I'm looking for a group that rules out the anonymity playing with voice only.

Need some snippets of the setting first. And I usually flex my class depending on the group. Generally I play a quirkly non-stereotypical character though.

Hello Hugo. My name is Michael and my brother Daniel and I have been playing D&D for many years. We just played with a group here on Roll20 and then the suddenly got disbanded on us. We got our characters up to level 4 and it was a big let down. We are in the process of making new characters and looking for a new group to play with. We both live here in California: me in the East Bay and he in So Cal. I’m making this post for both of us, so apologize if this is improper. My brother played AD&D 2nd Wditoon with me when he was growing up and went to play it for 8 years. He has now been playing 5E since the beginning of this year. We both use Discord. A little about myself:  I started playing AD&D back in the 90’s and took a liking to Ravenlift with my group I played with. I wrote homebrew adventures encompassing Ravenloft, Forgotten Realms, and Dragon Lance. I’m a short story writer and my brother is the reason I got back in to D&D. I work for an automobile manufacturer and run their parts department. I work Monday they Friday and love to spend Saturday’s with my  wife and 4yr old daughter. Hey there if you are still looking for players I am also a west coaster (OR) with full availability Tuesday-Friday... no seriously, I will play at 2:36 am... I spent years roleplaying via text on MUDs, but I am still developing the voice acting (it is hit or miss).   Name:  Kevin Age:  32 Availability:   Tuesday-Friday ALL THE HOURS.  Saturday-Monday after 8pm PST Experience:  15 years of roleplay in RP enforced MUDs.  About a month and a half of in person D&D (the DM was married to a fighter that mysteriously had 20 str, 19 dex, 18 con as a dragonborn yet was NEVER targeted by an enemy.) until it went sideways. A little about am myself: I am a big player of games in general.  Cards, video games, table top games (WH40K <Raven Guard or death> and I technically own some Infinity models).  Really looking forward to expanding my D&D experience as the cooperative synergy you can manage in D&D is difficult to find in other games. Character:  I played a Wood Elf way of shadows Monk in my live campaign.  A general hamfisted approach from the party left me as a dedicated anti-mage silence bot.  It wasn't much fun.  I am hoping to develop a character that can round out the party should I be selected.  That being said, I tend to gravitate towards stoic melee characters or adorably misunderstood rogues.
