Edited 1542522882
We are looking for 1-2 players that are looking to join a long term DND session. Sadly, two players have had to drop out for personal reasons and we are looking to replace them. We currently have 4 players and I am willing to go up to 6 total. If it matters to you, currently we have - - A warforge druid (Moon) - A half orc wizard (Divination/Conjuration) - A human palidan (Oath) - A half-elf bard (Swords) Though, things you need to know about the session. 1. We are using the Eberron maps but the lore homebrew with a few hints from Eberron lore dabbled in. 2. You will be required to have a discord. We use that for a LOT of stuff. There are between the sessions in character interactions, places for character images, item images/details, special character channels, session zero information (That can be added to if need be) and it is where we host the calls for the sessions. 3. Video is appreciated, though not required. I, as the DM simply require it because of how I tell stories. 4. This session is not looking for evil characters and all evil characters will be turned away. Neutral characters are accepted. 5. You have to be on top of your character sheet. I will not take time out of the start of the session for you to level your character. It's just not going to happen. I put too much work into this story and the prep that I do, and it's disrespectful to me and the fellow players that we have to wait for you to do something when there was a week to do so. 6. I work on the 3 strikes you are out system. If there is a problem and you are the cause, I will remove you from the party after I speak with you about the issue. 7. This is a LONG term game. There will be encounters of every kind down the road. Political, combat, social, city, wilds - you name it. That aside, I'm going to ask a few questions to help weed out applicants. Application questions!! 1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? 16. What is your favorite game? The selection process will start around 11/19 in the early morning. Though, will be finalized by 11/21.

1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? I think it can work under the right circumstances. It all depends on how patient the DM and the players are. Most times I've encountered party splits it hasn't worked to well but I'm always open to it. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) I'm pretty much open to everything. It is a fictional fantasy world after all. 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. In terms of character I'd like to play a Gnome Barbarian. As a player I like to try different class/race combinations to see what works and what doesn't. I don't consider myself a min/maxer. I n terms of a short background: My Gnomes homeland was raided by a gang of Orcish pirates. The chieftain took sympathy on me and adopted me as their own. I grew up to believe I was a savage Orc, despite the plethora of evidence that says otherwise. So basically I'm a mentally ill Gnome. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. I'm an Aussie which means I'd be playing mid morning so time literally is not a factor for me. I can play as long or as short as you want. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. I always like a healthy mix of each. Maybe a 35%/30%/30% for Roleplay/combat/exploration. 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? I'm 24 and have been playing DnD for a little over a year. I've played enough to know all the rules and mechanics but I feel like I'm still new enough to be surprised by certain plot hooks and creatures. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? Sometimes I do, but seeing as I want to play as a Gnome I think I should spare everyone's ears and not do a typical high pitched Gnome voice xD 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? I enjoy the characters most of all. Every game I play I like to add some sort of quirk to the character I'm playing. Something that can evolve over time. I'm also very fond of world building. I love being involved in a good world that a DM has created. It's inspiring and quite immersive as well. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? Although he is only three feet in size Kognak (as he was renamed by his Orcish foster father) is quite the savage. As he is not the most intelligent of Gnomes he would most likely take that book by force. As an Orc once told him, a broken nose and cracked teeth builds character. 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? If I'm being honest, Critical Roll is my reason for getting into D&D. The fact that Matt Mercer and the gang have brought a rather closeted community into the main stream is really amazing. 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? The first group I ever played with, we were sailing the high seas after escaping a group of Drow cultists when a Plesiosaurus attacked the side of the ship. I managed to grapple onto the creatures neck, drag it onto the ship and held it there while my party sliced and diced it. This was done through three crit rolls in a row and some rule of cool DMing but is still a very memorable moment for Morax the Bold (my Dragonborn character at the time). 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? I loved the previous game I was in. DM had to disband due to real life issues but if I had to suggest something I guess a certain player would talk over other people quite a bit. It got a little bit irritating but wasn't a huge deal after we mentioned it to him. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? Pretty likely I would say. I'm always up for extra curricular activities :) 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? Like I suggested before. We had player who would often talk over the rest of the party. We dealt with it after he mentioned it to him, he didn't even realize he was doing it. I believe D&D should be a game about community. Everybody should get their own turn to shine. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? What the DM says goes but if it were something I was confused by I'd mention it after the game. Nitpicking every ruling the DM has will only interrupt game flow and lead to arguments. 16. What is your favorite game? This is a tough one :S for nostalgia purposes I would have to say Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I played this game for hundreds of hours back when I life wasn't so crash hot. Edit: Just thought I would mention I don't have a webcam as of yet. I may look into getting one if I am accepted. I have a working mic though.
Well I’ve been looking for a game during the week with my work hours seems perfect. anyway I’m on mobile so I apologize in advance for any formatting issues so I will just answer the questions in order. 1. I feel like splitting the party is fine in domestic situations like being in a town or city if we have a meeting spot but not in dungeons or when expecting a fight. There is strength in numbers. 2. The one thing I’m not ok with is explicit sexual content or forced advances from either npc’s or players. 3. I have been wanting to try playing a way of shadow monk that dabbled a bit in magic to supplement his existing skills so if feats are allowed I would probably play a V.human with the magic initiat feat. 4. Ya the time is perfect for my current work hours. 5. I don’t have a preferred ratio as I tend to go with the flow of what is happening in game. 6. Currently 27 years old and have played AD&D 2nd edition for about 4 years now and around 6 months of 5e on and off in different games in Roll20 that either ended from lack of interest or I had to leave for personal reasons. 7. No I’m no good at voices. 8. I play d&d because I enjoy it. The freedom, the interactions, and the problem solving are probably my favourite aspects. 9. I would probably steal it. My characters skills would make it easier and if I need it within an hour I wouldn’t have the time to try more legal channels. 10. The old baldur’s gate games first got me interested in the settings and I read a few fantasy books at that age. It wasn’t until I was in college did I try playing and I was hooked. 11. Probably lighting a bomb to destroy the gate during a siege only to go down after lightning it. Only for one of my companions to run and grab me and Rambo out before the bomb went off. 12. Being railroaded into a situation that killed my character with essentially no chance to actually DO anything. 13. Pretty likely if I’m around to respond. 14. I’ve been fortunate enough where I haven’t had to deal with that scenario but if it came up I would probably bring it up to the DM or talk to the player after the game and see if we could work it out.  15. I would wait until after the game to bring it up since it’s not my place to stop the game over personal grievances. 16. In general? Changes all the time but I always go back to “Legend of Dragoon”. Because of work I probably won’t be around Monday morning so I’m not sure if that excludes me from the selection process but I thought I would post my application anyway. Thanks for the consideration and have a good night.

Darn This sounder SUPER interesting and fun. Too bad I work Thursday nights. Please add me to a personal list and let me know if you move the game to a weekend during the day, or a Monday/Tuesday night :D Also I love the "random" questions for your app. Goodluck with your search, and the game!

1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? As a player I prefer not to split the party unless its something like "hey u cover this door in the back and we will go in the front". As a DM I wont stop the players from doing it but I will let them know it makes alot of extra work trying to balance back and forth between two or more things happening. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) Greed and douchey behavior, iv dealt with all the greedy/douchey players I cant stand. I don't mind and try to be understanding that sometimes a char legitimately has roleplay reasons for certain behaviors but its only common for alot of players to hide behind "thats just who my player is" as an excuse for being a douche. 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. Normally I play melee, I have couple different char ideas floating around. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. Yes I can make that time. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. Im an equals amount type of guy, in the 5ish years iv played the campaigns that I always looked back on fondly had a good amount of all 3. I really love playing in a campaign with a gripping story and the roleplay matters, knowing that what ur char says and does will have an effect on the world is just the best. I love combat as well, I always look forward to facing evil on the battlefield . 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? 34 and been playing dnd for around 5 years but iv been into medieval fantasy games since I was a kid. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? I try too, sometimes it takes me a session or 2 to open up that part of me. Im kinda a shy person when it comes to new people, but once I get to know everyone and see that they are all nice people than I really start to get deeper into the voices. 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? I play dnd because its honestly the greatest form of entertainment in the world to me, the other reason is socializing and making friends. I unfortantly moved recently and no longer have a local group but when I was meeting up weekly for local games I really enjoyed meeting new people and making friends. I believe thats still possible online, tho it feels like its alot harder at times but iv meet some new people I really enjoy playing with since I decided to play on roll20 again. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? hmm I didnt really write down a flesh out char in the other question so the answer to that depends alot of the char. I would try to talk to the baron and explain the situation, if that ddnt work than Id likely take the book from him by force or if we have a sneaky party member might send them in to get it so we can avoid having to hurt anyone assumng the baron is an innocent person that just cares more about his book than my friends life. 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? The settings, iv always played medieval fantasy type games as a kid so when I learned of dnd and read my first book(3.5 players handbok) i was sucked into the magical world where I can do or be anything I want and not be confined to the restraints of a typical video game. 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? So iv done alot of crazy heroic stuff in dnd over last few years but the one that is prolly the most special to me was saving my friends animal companion for a horrible fate. Basically I was playing Ragnar a halfling (ape totem) barbarian in a 3.5 game, my friend was D a drow druid and his dog, Ragnar and D where the only original party members left in the group as we started together at level 1, so our chars had a special bond to say the least. We came to a tower that was suspected to be the hiding place of some bad guys we where chasing after, instead of going thru the front door I convinced the druid that climbing the tower and going thru the top was a better plan. so we manage to get to the top mainly thanks to me having a climb speed from ape totem and high str for a halfling. Once all of us are on top 3 stone statues turn into gargoyles and a fight breaks out. The thing to keep in mind is I had a rope I was using to assist the party with getting to the top. We are winning the fight when the last gargoyle grapples the dog and flies off the tower which is like 100ft in the air. Realizing that the rope is beside me, I grab it tossing one end to the party right as I leap from the tower. I manage to land on the gargoyle and get the rope tied about the dog, luckly the party caught the end of the rope I threw at them and between them pulling and me fighting the gargoyle mid air on its back we free the dog and the group pulls us all back to the top safely. For me this was one of the most intense moments in dnd cause I risked a char I really loved playing for another players animal companion but I did it cause thats who Ragnar was and it was an amazing moment. 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? As a player I disliked the fact that one of the other players in my old local group admitted he kept making new chars just to mess with mine, he would get bored with his chars after 4 of 5 sessions and always begged the gm to let him make another, I think he got bored because every chars motivation was to be a douche to my char because thats what the player thought made for a good story. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? Im not sure i feel understand what the question means but if you mean doing some 1 on 1 rp to cover something my char is doing that doesnt invlove the group than im totally good with that. 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? yes, like i was saying before I had a local player who for some reason just didnt like my char or maybe just didnt like me as a person. He made mutli different chars that all ended up trying to harass my char is some way or another. I honestly just dealt with it because he was the DM's best friend at the time, I talked to them DM about it and he agreed that the player was being a douche but nothing ever got done about it. The player final decided he didnt wanna play in my group and moved on. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? This depends on how the DM ask me to handle it, when i was playing 3.5 I often got asked for my imput on rulings cause out of my group I was the most versed in the rules for that system. We had a few DMs in that group, some of them wanted me to let them know if they maybe a bad calling and others wanted me to tell them after the session. I try to respect what the DM wants and Im not gonna fight with anyone over a rule. 16. What is your favorite game? DnD but if u asking about video games than prolly FF7 or FFTactics
1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? Not Fond of the idea. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) No. 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. Warlock. Think the most curious person you've ever met. Seeker of knowledge. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. Yea. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. 33/33/33 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? 23 years old, 2 years. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? Yea. 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? Immersion. Living world. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? I go ask the baron for it, politely. 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? CR 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? Myself and another player interrogated a yaunti. We rolled pretty badly and ended up giving him information and freeing him on accident; was pretty funny. 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? Another player stole something from me and the DM was fine with that so I left. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? Very likely. 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? Yea like I said a guy stole from me so I brought it up with the DM and when he was fine with that I left the campaign. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? Move on. 16. What is your favorite game? Jak 2
1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? In certain situations it's okay, but generally speaking it's a good way to end up with someone in a bad situation and either no one or not enough people around to help. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) Besides the extreme end of things that people normally wouldn't want to see, I'm pretty open to everything. As long as everyone else is fine with what's going on at the table I've got no issues personally.  3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. Looking to play a Scout Rogue with a possible Ranger multiclass (depending on if Revised Ranger is allowed) to fit a certain theme I'm going for. Personality wise is a bit of the cool, reserved type but with a healthy mix of upbeat kindness thrown in there to even it out. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. The thought of a 6 hour game makes me ecstatic (I'm a D&D junkie) and that time slot is 100% open for me. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. Besides straight up puzzles, I'm generally fine with most things. I'd say a healthy 55/45 split on Roleplay/Combat is usually where I fall, although I'm fine with a 70/30 Roleplay/Combat split if everyone's into it; on the other end reversing that to be a more combat focused game is fine as long as roleplay isn't entirely ignored. 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? I'm 20, and been playing for about a year. I've been trying to find some steady groups to play with, and so far I've got one I've been playing with since the start and a group I'm trying to run through Curse of Strahd. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? I am the King of Bad Accents! 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? I love to play D&D to tell stories. My own characters, the other PCs, and the overarching story of the campaign. I find the ability for a group of people to get together and make a story out of scattered ideas for characters combined with one person's plot threads amazing, and as a fledgling author I find it's a wonderful creative outlet. Plus the combat is fun and interesting if you're willing to get creative. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? For the concept I have in mind...? They would probably try to steal the book as the fastest method of obtaining it. 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? I used to and generally still listen to stories about D&D campaigns from various YouTubers when I was in high school. I happened to have a friend who was willing to get a group together over Skype and eventually it moved to Discord and Roll20 and I've been addicted to it ever since. 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? Favorite moment as a player has to be hitting a miniboss for 163 damage turn 1 in combat with the newly acquired combo I had gotten that level. It was a moment of pride for a build I had made. Although roleplay wise it would be when my Wild Elf Ranger sacrificed herself in order to bring down the Lich she had sworn a blood oath of vengeance against. 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? This is a little bit of a personal dislike as well, but people talking over one another and rushing to get to the next point after they think they've finished roleplaying is a little bit of a peeve. Obviously that can be good sometimes when the game is moving a little slow, but it can be disrespectful to people who want to do something they feel is cool or adds to their character. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? I'm pretty much always online so if it's something my character would participate in or is around to overhear then, yeah, I'd be happy to get character development going. 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? I have, yes, as I'm sure a lot of people did. At the time I was rather upset because session 1 another player left my character to die when he could've saved them. We talked it out but I'm pretty sure that the other party never got over it, as he had to be removed from the campaign due to his issues with me even after I made another, more "friendly" character due to his previous complaints. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? The DM has the final say. Not everything can go in the player's favor all the time, so just have to live with it and move on.  16. What is your favorite game? Favorite overall game? Probably would have to be Kingdom Hearts... just pick one of them. Although D&D does hit the closest second imaginable.

1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? Not usually a very good idea, though in specific circumstances it can be beneficial (if you've got a really good plan, you're really lucky, and you don't plan on the split lasting for very long). 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) Bigotry is the only hard no for me. I don't put up with it during any of the games that I run, and won't participate in games that feature it. There's two other things I generally restrict during my games, PVP and sexual violence, mostly because they're just soooooo hard to do without leading to bad vibes, but this is your game and I'll (obviously) leave those up to your judgement. 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. I generally play spellcasters, mostly wizards or bards. I've been thinking about giving a more martial class a try over the last little while, but I find it hard to step away from the variety of options that spellcasters give you. If you want me to get more specific, I generally like to get to know the world a little bit before I actually build anything out. 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. Yup, works just fine for me. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. I prefer mostly roleplay, with combat being the second feature and exploration coming up third. That's reaaaally DM dependent though. Some DMs are better at some things than others, and if they're good at the exploration thing (exploring leads to rich and interesting lore) then that tends to bump it up to second place. 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? I'm thirty and I've been playing and DMing for about five years. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? You bet I do. 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? The roleplay is probably my favourite aspect. It's like playing videogames and acting and writing all wrapped up in one fun ass time. What's not to like? 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? Steal it with magic.  10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? I've been a fantasy nerd for my entire life. I think it was inevitable for me to get into DND eventually, and frankly I'm surprised it took me as long as it did. 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? Oh! That's easy. I have another game that I participate in once every few weeks (whenever the dms schedule allows for it) and a few years ago, about six months into the campaign, I was having trouble with the character I'd made. They were suuuper fun to roleplay and I didn't want to give them up, but mechanically they were essentially useless. Outside of encounters I was having a blast, but any time our party had to fight or do a skill challenge they were just no help at all. So I talked to the DM and we devised this metamorphosis where he was consumed by his deity and then re-birthed through this tree as a Druid. He did such a good job with the visuals and the lore, and it led to so many interesting new avenues for the character to go down. Easily my favourite.  12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? Ummm I was in a roll20 group for like one session one time where one of the dudes just got really, really drunk and then his player took a swing at my player and tried to start a fight with them. That was pretty lame. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? Very. I always got time for that. 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? The guy with the drinking and the PvP was the only time, really. I talked to the DM about it and he just didn't really respond. I think he was a newer DM and a little nervous. So I just amicably parted ways with them. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? Wait till later and talk to them about it in private, if I think it's important enough. If it's not that important I'd just keep my mouth shut and get on with the game. Dm rules the day. 16. What is your favorite game? DnD. If you're talking video games, my heart says FF7 or BG2, because of nostalgia and the fact that I haven't really owned a console in a long time. The Witcher 3 is probably the best one that I've played over the last year or so. Alrighty! Any further questions feel free to pm me. Brett
1. What is your opinion on splitting the party?     Can be fun, but definitely a little worrisome. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions)     Really anything that would remove someone's free will, consent, or ability to respond, player or NPC. 3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better.     I have a few thoughts in my head, one of them being a human warlock (Chain/Old one), Another being a monk (shadows), and another being a ranger (Monster slayer) that's prime enemy type is vampires. (Races are open for discussion, but I have ideas, and I'm not sure how much of a bother they'd be.) 4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then.     Yeah, I kind of don't do a whole lot, so that timeframe is good for me. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat.     I really love/enjoy exploration, it's why I love getting into new things/read every description I can in games. Followed or surpassed by Roleplay, depending on how things go, with combat behind the others, because depending on the character, I can either have a good idea of what I'm gonna do, or fumble around for a time looking for the right spell/ability. 6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D?     Just turned 21 not too long ago, and TT D&D for less than a year, total. Played Neverwinter Nights 2 a ton while growing up though, if that counts for anything. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice?     Yeah, it really helps me get into the mindset of the characters I'm playing more, and out of my own. 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most?     I enjoy hanging out with cool people, seeing character ideas I have in my head be brought to life, and exploring the worlds created or that I'm playing in. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book?     Probably either attempt to steal it, attempt to convince the baron to give it, possibly in exchange for something else, or use some form of trickery to make him believe the book was mine/ours all along/he never had it in the first place. 10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically?     TTRPGs? Critical Role a few years ago now, I think. D&D? Probably all the fantasy RPG's I played growing up. (Video games, mind you, but still.) 11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D?     Probably either the time when a DM ran an evil campaign, and the first thing we had to do was break out of prison. The party decided to immediately try and break out after only having been there for a day, at most, using an item that was just delivered to us that made a hole in the wall of our cell. We then charged out into the courtyard, our party only having two daggers to split amongst four people, and the guard immediately raised the alarm. Two of the guards on the walls tried to shoot arrows at us, and both got natural ones, the arrows falling from their bows and down the side of the wall. One of them then got another natural one the very next attack, and his bowstring snapped.     The other time, this one more recent, and with a different DM, one of the party (A gunslinger), was snooping around a magical merchants shop (Or trying to) while we were completing a quest we didn't really accept, and speaking with him out front. The player, frustrated he couldn't open the windows anymore, went around to the front of the merchants home, in the middle of the market square, and decided to shoot the lock/handle of the door off. After a bit of chasing around, the guards caught him with a sleep spell, and he went to jail, with the rest of the party just looking on with a mixture of shock, confusion, and concern. (Granted the player only escalated it like that because he misheard the DM and thought the merchant lived alone outside the city, but still.) 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game?     Honestly? My conduct was pretty bad. One of the first games I played in, a few years ago, I still feel as if I wasn't acting mature and was constantly blurting things out/asking about myself more than I should've. I'd like to think I've gotten better, but I do still have some issues with speaking out of turn. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions?     Extremely likely, I enjoy getting into a characters mindset, and the more I could do that, the better, in my opinion. 14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it?     Another player? No, not at all. I've given another player a hard time over his character (Said character mentioned previously), but I made sure to clarify it was just me joking around with him and giving him a hard time. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment?     It depends, I feel. If I felt there was confusion, or like people were unsure, I would try and figure out what the rule is, the effect does, or what the spell/ability says. If the DM said that that was their ruling on the matter, then it wouldn't be an issue for me, and I'd move on from it. 16. What is your favorite game?     Video game wise? Impossible for me to say, as what I like/am interested in changes a lot, but I really enjoy Total War: Warhammer II. Hope your day is going well.
There is still time to apply. We will be making the final selections tomorrow. And, due to holidays, the first session for new players will be the 29th! Again! There is still time to put in an application!
I'm so glad this is still open. I've been searching for a 5e game that fits my schedule, and this would be great. First off, I'm Kody. (I'm a girl. I feel the need to clarify because most people assume otherwise from my name. Thanks, Mom.) Totally down for Discord - all the various channels makes me excited, because it tells me you guys are really serious about this campaign, which I love. Anyway, here are my responses: 1. What is your opinion on splitting the party? Depends on the situation. As a general rule, not a great idea. But I think in some scenarios (say, sneaking around a castle or mansion looking for information) where the encounters are more likely to be exploration or role-play based, it can work all right. But in a dungeon where combat is likely, it can obviously lead to big problems. 2. Is there anything that you DO NOT want to see in a DND session? Aka, what are your hard No's in a session. (Examples - brutal murder descriptions) Brutal descriptions of animal abuse and sexual violence.  3. What kind of character would you like to play? Note, I do allow overlaps in classes. So long as arch types are different, it's even better. I was thinking a changeling cleric (Light or Life Domain, depending on which deities you're including). A character who was once a petty thief who found herself reluctantly chosen by a deity.  I"m not sure if you're allowing changeling or not, though. So, if not, I'd go with a Fallen Aasimar cleric (same domains). A character who has already fallen, but is trying to seek redemption through her relationship with her deity.  4. Kind of an obvious one - Is Thrusday 6pm - 12pm EST alright with you? We don't always end at 12, more often around 11, but we try to be done by then. Yes. It's perfect for me. 5. What's your proffered % of split interactions? Roleplay, Exploration, Combat. Probably 40/20/40 for RP, Exploration, Combat. But I"m very flexible on this. I've been in games that leaned more one way or another, and I've had a great time in both.  6. How old are you and how long have you played D&D? I"m 27. I've been playing TTRPGs for about 2 years.  Though my experience with 5e is more limited. I've played in a couple of one shots and short lived in-person campaigns that ended too soon. So I know I still have a lot to learn about this system. But I've played several other systems - including playing in and GMing in the AGE system. So I think I will pick it up pretty quickly. 7. Do you roleplay in your characters voice? I do! Another player encouraged it when I first got into a long term campaign, saying she found it helped her connect with the character, and she was right. So now every character I play has a voice that I use. (I used to do theater and improv, so it wasn't as hard for me to slip into as I initially thought it would be.) 8. Why do you play D&D? What do you enjoy the most? Again, my experience with D&D is limited. But why I play TTRPGs in general - for me, it's kind of a form of storytelling. The merging of something like storytelling and theater. As a former theater kid, I find that appealing. As a fantasy nerd, I love the chance to create characters in worlds so different from mine. Plus, it's a great way to meet fun new people. Some of my closest friends now are people I met through tabletop. 9. Your character (From the earlier question) needs a book in the possession of a local baron in order to save the life of a dear friend, and you need it within one hour. How do you get that book? I'll answer this for the changeling, since she's my first choice. Though it goes against her base instincts, she'd first try to ask the Baron for the book as kindly as she can manage. If that doesn't work, she'd give in to her instincts and disguise herself as either the Baron or one of his servants and retrieve the book via trickery. She'll see forgiveness later. Maybe.  10. What first got you interested in TTRPGs or D&D specifically? I first got interested in TTRPGs because a friend was wanting to run a game at her house. It was a 5e one shot. I played and had so much fun that I came straight home and signed up for Roll20.  Though I didn't end up finding a 5e long term campaign (yet. Hopefully this one could be it!) I did end up getting really into other systems - from Powered by the Apocalypse to the AGE system. Last year I ended up in a Dragon Age campaign that I've now been a part of for over a year and has been one of the best experiences ever. I'd love to find something that wonderful with 5e as well. Oh, also, Critical Role. CR is a big reason I'm so eager to get into a long term DnD game specifically.  11. What is your favorite moment as a player that occurred in D&D? Not DnD specifically, but from my long term tabletop game. The party was attending a tournament, and we realized there was trouble brewing. Specifically, a character scheduled to fight another NPC was likely going to try and kill said NPC during their tourney fight. So my character (a rogue) and another player character decided to go try and alter the bracket schedule so those two characters would not face off in the arena and we'd get a chance to prevent a murder. While the other PC flirted with a guard, my rogue snuck in and rewrote the bracket with some forgery.  It was a really fun, high stakes moment, fairly early into the campaign, with some good teamwork.  I love those sorts of moments, where PCs get a chance to work together in fun ways, even outside of combat, that feel like they impact the story. 12. What is something that you disliked in a previous D&D game? Again, not D&D specifically. This was from a oneshot in the PbtA system. But the GM put my character (who was a lesbian) in a position where she had to essentially be an unwilling participant in a sexual scenario involving men. Though it was not graphic or violent, there would have been in-game consequences for her walking away. I was fairly new to tabletop then and had no idea how to speak up, but it made me deeply uncomfortable. (This GM did similar things with other characters, and by the end all the players were left feeling uncomfortable with what happened during that one shot.) It's not my favorite RP memory, as you can probably imagine. 13. How likely are you to participate in roleplaying opportunities outside of sessions? Very.  The campaign I've been in for a year has a really active player group that frequently do text RPs with one another. So it's something i"m already used to and very happy to find in another game as well.  14. Have you ever had a problem with another player? How did you handle it? Yes. Though never anything serious. In general, I've always handled it by contacting the player directly (and privately) and discussing it with them. In general, that's always worked well. 15. How would you handle a situation where the DM makes a ruling a ruling you disagree with in the moment? Depends on the context. If it was a small thing, I'd probably just ask for clarification in the moment, to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding the ruling. If I still disagreed, I'd take some time to consider if it was something worth discussing further or better just to let it go. If I really do think it's worth discussing further, I'd wait until after the game was over and contact the DM privately.  I GM a game as well, so my general rule is to handle things how I"d want them handled with me, and not take up game time by arguing a point. 16. What is your favorite game? Definitely Dragon Age. Those video games really revived my love of fantasy. The character development and the ability to make tough choices is something I really love in games, too, and BioWare really nailed it.  A couple of extra (possibly important) things to note about me: 1. I'm a queer woman and pretty much exclusively play queer (specifically, bi or lesbian) characters. So if this isn't an LGBTQ+ friendly campaign, I'm probably not the best fit. I hope it is though! <3 2. I'm visually impaired. Not completely blind, but my vision is still pretty bad. This has never kept me from playing - as I said above, I've played in a lot of games and also GM games - but it just means there may be moments where I'm a bit slower to find something or may have to ask for explanation of an image if I can't see it.  3. As I said above - though I've played a lot of TTRPGs, my experience with DnD is limited. I tend to pick up things pretty fast, but I'll definitely need a session zero to make sure I get the character sheet right. Whether you pick me or not - I wish you good luck! This sounds like an awesome campaign.
