Good points given from Ben G. I find it's good to put Hit Points under "Attributes" in Roll20 JOURNAL section. Create an attribute for HP, then it automatically gives you 2 boxes for "Current" and "Max". Then you can attach this journal entry to a token (if you don't know what "token" means, think of your pewter miniature, it's the icon of your PC on the map). Once you do this you can get a "Health bar" above your token, and you can add-subtract HP's directly on the health bar on the token on the map. I also put STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA under Attributes, even though I rarely use "Current" and "Max" for this, just put your ability score under Max. Anything that you put under Journal > ATTRIBUTES or ABILITIES, can be referenced in a "Macro" (this means an automatic dice roll). You do not need to use Macros, but you CAN use macros to save time with repetitive dice-rolls. It is optional. Sometimes your DM will tell you what macros to set-up. Usually your DM can help you with macros. Now this is where I really see what pat j. is asking. You put STR under Attributes, but then there is not a place for "Bend Bars" and "Hit adjustment" and all those usual AD&D modifiers that you get from the Ability score, much less other character sheet categories like "Equipment". Sorry to say but this is where Roll20 Journal character sheets let you down. You need to write those adjustments either: On Paper at home, or on another website that has char sheets like Myth Weavers, or you can type it into the free-text box of your journal entry for your character sheet. Anything that is a single raw-number, and anything you plan to use in a Macro (dice roll), is best put under Attributes or Abilities. For example you might choose to make an attribute for Bend Bars. Or you might not want it to be a rollable attribute, maybe you just want Bend Bars to be a written-down number that you can refer when needed. If you want to keep that sort of info IN ROLL20, then you simply type out each line in the free text box. Here, it's not a standardized 2E character sheet, it's just a box to type whatever you want, so you can sort-of make your own sheet, in that box. Depending on what scores you need/want to refer to inside Roll20. You could make a list of Equipment, Treasure, Magic Items, Saving Throws, anything and everything from a char sheet that you can type, you can put in the free text box. It will NOT have a mechanical function such as automatic rolling. In conclusion to review your areas under Journal that you can use are: Attributes and Abilities section, use for raw number scores that you might make macros to do repeated dice rolls (maybe Saving Throws, maybe ability scores, maybe HP). Free text box put everything else you want such as Bio, Gear, XP, Level, Name, Hair Color, whatever else you want to type, you can type anything. If instead you want a standard looking char sheet that everyone in the party can match the same sheet, then use MythWeavers or another website rather than Roll20 Journal. Hope this helps, if you have more questions feel free to ask the tavern group! This is what we are gathered here for, to help each other implement AD&D 2E on the Roll20 interface. P.S. a big P.S. >>>> IF you are a paid subscriber of Roll20, or if your DM is a subscriber, then the DM can use the "API". This allows advanced tweaks of Roll20. If you have access to using the API, then you must read the threads by Stephen (both under the Tavern forum & he also posts in Community Forums). Stephen has provided an API script for generating a 2E character sheet in Roll20 Journal. He knows how to run his API script and it makes a fancy character sheet that looks like familiar 2E, that you can fill out in Roll20.
