[LFG 5e]Long-Time DM, First-Time Player...

Okay, so not first-time. But extremely limited. I've been behind the screen for a while, but don't take that to mean that I'm a rules lawyery kind of person. I'm not even a rules-lawyery DM. Since I have limited player experience to say what kind of player I am, I'll tell you first what kind of DM I am and then go into why I think that'll make me a good player. First of all, my style as a DM is very much narrative focused. I work to get players to build bonds that can then be used at the table. I try and keep a balance of combat and roleplay, but I'm better at the roleplay. I create distinguished voices and personalities between my NPCs. I'm known for creating a wide cast of characters that can all be recognised easily. In my current campaign the players are using a pub known as the Bitter Trinket as their headquarters. Entering the pub you're actually on a demi-plane of sorts, and the owner of the establishment is the only illithid in my setting, a polite host named Edgar. He's got a very deep, somewhat Polish accent. Then there's Unkle Fet, a massive Goliath who has let himself go. He's got a voice all his own, but he's an information broker of sorts who backs the PCs, who are immortals that have recently been usurped by a faction of paladins and bloodhunters that have taken over their city. Gith and Zerth are two 'companions' to Edgar, and are siblings. Gith is wry and mischievous and a diviner, whereas her brother Zerth is standoffish but kind. I'm usually juggling a handful of different voices in a session, but I don't forget who the characters are. I only bring up this part of my DMing because I think that I could really bring a character to the campaign that's interesting, believable, and who also brings out the character of those around them. I've created NPCs for every kind of class mixture, so I honestly don't care what character I play, I can play them well as long as it's with a group who enjoys roleplaying, as well. Though if I could play any class and had full choice on it, I'd play a Bardlock. Multiclass a Lore Bard with a Great Old One Warlock. I have a lot of love for Lovecraft, and that character type appeals to me. I'd play them as devil-may-care, probably. But that really depends on the setting and the other characters and a slew of things I'd want to take into consideration before finally settling on my character. But I can whip up a good fit for a campaign in really short notice, something else I've learned from DMing. As far as tone goes, I think I prefer things with a somewhat serious tone. I like levity and strangeness, yes. It doesn't have to be dire all the time. I have a pub whose whole purpose is levity, because the rest of my campaign is rather serious. Even the pub in its feelings of strange safety and humor has Edgar burning Flumphs in the fireplace as fuel for the interdimensional machine that is the Bitter Trinket. Even my humor isn't without its dark affects. That isn't to say I'll only be playing serious characters. It's just that any character I make, serious or not, will probably work better in a more serious campaign. Dark tragedy is my forte. Anyways, done talking about myself. Here's to hoping I'm the right person for your campaign!
Hi! :) You didn't mention any details about your availability, so I'll just leave this here in case the time played and everything else could be a fit. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7028661/lfps-5e-new-open-world-slash-sandbox-campaign-with-focus-on-character-or-npc-interaction-weekly-saturday-evenings-cet If it's not for you, no worries and good hunting.
