D&D adventure of the wicked king homebrew story 5e

Light heart game of about five players, I intend on making this game fun but also having some serious moments. The game is on Saturdays and my time zone is est. This will hopefully be a long-term game but we will see. The concept is that people are under the rule of a king who is collecting high taxes from the people, people pay because they are afraid of being vulnerable to attacks from bandits, giants, creatures from the south, etc. Orcs and their captains are the biggest worry currently. This is a d&d 5e game, not pathfinder or openlegend.
So essential feudalism with a purpose? And do you think the party will be determining what course of action they should do? Or will they be enlisted?
the plot and goal is revolution, I like having a plot with some moments of seriousness. I just wanted to state that it's not always going to be edgy
What time do you plan to start on Saturdays? My timezone is also EST.
I'm interested depending on when you want to play
