New player to the Roll20 system LFG

I am getting very dejected over applying for a group which I see posted, never hearing back from the DM, checking the post over 2 weeks and it still shows just the DM looking for 4-6 players. So, I am posting here instead. If you want me, pick me up. Some facts about me which I have seen other GM's ask about. I'm New to the Roll20 website and system. Absolutely willing to learn, but you have to be willing to teach and explain. I am a 42 year old disabled and retired army combat veteran. Meeting any groups time constraints is not a problem as time is the one thing I have in abundance. I have little experience in the 5e system. The last time i played with any significance was during 3.5e which i did not like very much. I absolutely love 5e, but I have very little experience with it. I ran a small one shot campaign for my niece and nephew last year and I would like more experience as a player in the system before i try to DM for them again. I have a more serious nature. Though I do have the ability to laugh at humor, i tend to not prefer to play a 3 stooges, slap stick silly game session. I would prefer to join a group that is planning to run one of the already printed modules as apposed to a home brew campaign. The games I am interested in are as follow in this order: Curse of Strahd Tomb of Annihilation Storm King's Thunder Princes of the Apoc Ravnica (This is the one exception to "no homebrew" since obviously there are no Ravnica modules yet) The type of character I would prefer to play would be a Minotaur Cleric (Domain not yet decided, it would depend on the campaign, though I am interested in the Grave Domain). I gravitate to the Cleric choice because of real life choices. In real life, as a soldier, i couldnt heal, i could only hurt. So i would very much like the opportunity to use DnD as a form of release and therapy for myself and play a character that Protects and Heals, without going full Paladin. I work great in a team and group as I am still what the military built to me to be...a team player. Please let me know if you are a DM looking for a player like me.
Hey, I'm going to be running a campaign pretty soon using Out of the Abyss, we have room for one more player and are planning on having our first session Monday January 7th at 5:00 PM EST(two weeks from now). The campaign has some survival horror themes and will deal with some darker issues, so far it looks like managing your character's mental state is going to be a central part of the campaign(if you have any concerns about how it will be handled feel free to let me know). I'm new to GMing and also using some custom rules so I'll be explaining a lot of mechanics even to the more experienced players. Here's a link to my original post https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7060708/lfp-5e-free-new-gm-looking-for-test-subj-er-players-monday-evenings-est-number-oota-number-darkerdungeons-number-newbie-number-queer-number-disabled, and if you have any questions or want to join the discord chat to see if we're a good fit feel free to message me ^_^

I'm not really looking for a game that is 5e with "special rules" attached. And not really looking for the Out of the Abyss story. I really appreciate the offer and consideration though.
Sure thing, best of luck with your search ^_^
Still looking.
Salutations, intrepid adventurer! I'm presently running a homebrew Storm King's Thunder campaign on Friday evenings at 6:30 PM PST. 6 players comprise the group, with 1 (possibly 2) seats remaining. The setting is largely inspired by Ancient India and supplemented by Central Asian history. However, other analogues of ancient cultures exist; characters can originate from any continent. The party currently consists of a Bard, Blood Hunter, Cleric, Monk, Paladin, and Wizard. I use milestone levelling, so all characters are at level 3 (nearing level 4). Classes are not exclusive; another Bard or Paladin is absolutely permitted. We do use Video and Voice (roll20 for Video and Discord for Voice), so you would need a functioning webcam. As a player, you are guaranteed: A safe, secure space wherein everyone is acknowledged. The real world can be nightmarish; a D&D game should be a respite. Ample opportunities for character development. Player autonomy is important and facilitating the realization of your character concept is my priority. An opportunity to take an optional 1st level Feat called Giantborn. Those individuals who are Giantborn manifest echoes of the Giants' abstruse, sophisticated magic. Consequently, Giantborn may be feared or revered, or hunted or safeguarded. An interactive, responsive world wherein character choices carry appreciable weight. A tiered social hierarchy allows characters to engender relationships with NPCs, whether beneficial or antagonistic. If a particular social class is unfavoured by three NPCs, at least half a dozen other NPCs will aid you. Magic items galore! Aside from items catalogued in sourcebooks, I routinely gift characters with customized magic items emphasizing class or racial features, or reflecting narrative elements. If you're interested, here is the roll20 listing. Additionally, you can contact me via Discord: darren#2031 . When applying, please ensure you post your application in the appropriate discussion; applications posted elsewhere will be ignored. Happy gaming!

If you don't find a 5e game to your liking, would you consider an older game? I am running Palladium that was a competitor of AD&D. While most of their books have an adventure or 2, that game intends for the DM to do their own thing. The game system also is actually designed to reward role play since the xp system rewards killing things (and taking their stuff) below helping others or even "avoiding unnecessary violence". If you want to play a character that has the desire to fix things (and break as few things as possible in the process) in a sword and sorcery type game, you could do worse than give that concept a go in Palladium. If you find yourself interested, my lfg listing is here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/142516/the-shattered-north
I really appreciate the offers from all you wonderful people but honestly, if it’s not 5e and it’s not on the list I posted, I’m not interested. I’m looking for a long time group with a big campaign. I am more than willing to commit to any length of time but if I’m committing to something, I want it to to be something I’m going to enjoy and something I’m looking for. To to keep me from repeatedly turning you guys down, if it’s not in my list and not 5e, please don’t offer.
