animation possibilities?

Is it possible to create animations such as an expanding fireball or breath of a dragon?
Not in the current engine, no. The rendering display of Roll20 turns everything into a static image. I've seen a clip or two where folks use the API (mentor level access) to programmatically resize an image so it vaguely looks animated, but that's about the extent, and very rare.

While it's not possible to create custom animations at this time, if you're a Mentor, there's a Special FX option in on the toolbar that simulates fire balls and fire breath. http://youtu.be/2bdmzgM26hM
Thanks Kristin C. ! Time for me to upgrade!

I agree! Lightning would be one of the next more obvious choices that I would suggest. It would be very cool if we could choose the size of the FX. Can we? I didn't see how to do that...

I think the FX is presently limited to selecting the type of particle effect you want. It's the same size regardless of zoom level. That being said, The FX feature is very new (it came with the December Rugged Reroll content update), so it's got lots of room to grow. That's normally how things develop here with Roll20. A bare-boned feature is added in first and then gets fleshed out in cycles.

But here I'm just a greedy consumer, who wants MOAR. ~_^
