Howdy friends, my name is Kira, I’ve been playing this DnD
campaign for close to a year now (of which this thread is about). We are
looking for 1- 2 players to add to our group of adventurers, and I certainly
hope we’ll find you here. I’m hoping that by adding my personal take on this
campaign, that a few of you may share the same type of enjoyment I do and would
like to join us. What I always find myself drawn back to in this campaign is
the gritty 10 th century fantasy struggle and challenges of the time,
and my enjoyment of overcoming the challenge, and what I mean by that is
simply: I want to be a hero. I don’t mean that in the sense of glory, or people
calling me a hero, I want that in the sense that I know that when pressed to
the point of breaking – I’ll make the right decision. Being an actual hero and
being what people in this world would call a hero are two different things. In the
10 th century, when there are slavers, when feudalism is strong and
classes are rigid, when heroes are men who conquer lands, and mercy is
enslaving an entire group of people to labor and die for your own nation, where
do you stand? My character is a noble, LGBT, a woman, that struggles in a patriarchal
nation, and finds herself wanting to free slaves and reconciling the potential socioeconomic
impact it would have on the entire known world (dodging marriages is also a
part-time job). If her thoughts were broadcasted to the world of Erren, she
would be a society-betraying terrorist witch, but you know what? I’ll be the best
society-betraying terrorist witch there ever was. Provided I don’t get burnt at
the stake for all of the above first. That is why I play the game. It is easy to become a hero
when the world aligns what you think is good, but can you become a hero when the
entire world thinks you’re wrong? How do you reconcile the difference between
what you’re doing and the villains who too are defying societal expectations?
On the counter side, if you naturally play Lawful Good characters, how strongly
will you cling onto your nation’s laws? When a country’s law will have an
innocent little girl executed for simply being related to a brother who
committed a crime she had nothing to do with, will you stand by and let it happen?
I think at the core of this, if you are the type of person that’ll enjoy playing
in a dark Game of Throne-esque world that has a lot more magic (for the rich
and powerful), if you are the type of person that wants to test the mettle of morality,
and if you are the type of person that wants to become the hero that overcomes –
you will fit right in. Now that you’ve got a hint of my take, here’s the concrete
details. We play at 8pm-12pm PST on Mondays, and new characters will be joining
at level 16. This world is designed to be played post-20, and there are a lot
of homebrew elements that will come into play post-20. We are looking for
well-rounded characters and while they may not be bards or wizard themselves, they
can still hold themselves afloat socially and intellectually. Our party itself
is leaning toward neutral and chaotic so keep that in mind as you create your
character, we’ve had a wealth of characters ranging from LG, LN, TN, CG/N, and
they’ve all had challenges and found ways to fit in one way or another. It’s also best to keep in mind, that the more
you deviate from social norms (10 th century), the bigger the
struggles can be to overcome until it can perhaps become too unbearable so
really think about what you are willing to bear (Feel free to PM me if you have
questions). This game can be detailed oriented at times as it is a very rich
and established world with lots of lore that can have enormous impact if minor
details are caught. Thus, from our own personal experience, characters who dump
all of their mental stats tend to have a very hard time. Our current party consist
of a wizard, a monk, and a paladin. Our bard has recently died, and he will be
rejoining the game as a different class. Because we are operating in the timeframe of the 10th
century, characters that are based on animes or the like will not fit well here
and we're afraid we are currently not accepting them because of the conflict. More information on applying and game lore itself can be
