I'm contemplating upgrading my friend to a Mentor, that way we could also get dynamic lighting which would be really useful to our campaign right now.  Would our server automatically switch over so he could get access to DL, or would we need to make a new one?  Thanks.

If you upgrade an account to Mentor, you are immediately able to use all features associated with it. I upgraded to Supporter and was able to add Dynamic Lighting to my existing campaign.

Upon upgrading, the heavens open, and a large booming voice sings your praises to all Roll20 users.  Well, not really. BUT you do get all the perks right away, including the Dynamic Lighting, as DapperDuck has said. You also get the mobile support, access to our amusing supporter podcast (now with over 17 episodes!) and our eternal gratitude. We're still working on the voice.
