‘Beasts in Velvet’ It is the month of Sigmarzeit , twelfth year of Emperor Boris I, also known as ‘ Goldgather ’. In a rule that has seen corruption and indifference from the nobility at large, a new crisis has emerged. A body was found, strewn on across the steps of the Grand Temple of Sigmar on Sigmartag morning. The identity of the man was impossible to ascertain, his features a ruin of gore and violence, however his garb held him as a member of a mercantile guild of some repute. His death and gruesome discovery are the latest in a series of murders that have stolen the confidence of the common folk of Altdorf, and has even begun to shake the usually distant nobility. As tensions rise, the discontent amongst the peasantry is being enflamed by agitators and provocateurs, with whispers of a peasant's revolt becoming more frequent. In order to curb this, and to find the culprit of these slayings, Emperor Boris has, reluctantly, chartered a new arm of the Stadtwache to investigate the murders and apprehend the guilty party, whatever form they may take. This arm has been given powers to investigate all citizens within the Empire, without limitation, and is being, again reluctantly, funded by the crown’s own coffers. It is being headed by a distant nephew of the Emperor, one Prince Jalan. The prince has been placed there at the behest of the Emperor himself, for what purpose remains unclear. Its numbers have been drawn from those few idealist volunteers that exist within this bleak world, or more commonly those who are indebted to the Crown and whose continued existence is at the mercy of the Emperor and his court. The Crown has called its servants to do this duty, will you answer the summons? Rules: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Core Rules (4th Ed.) Requirements: Whilst there are no real requirements to join this campaign, the rules are quite in depth, some previous roleplay experience would probably be of use. It goes without saying knowledge of the Warhammer World (specifically the World that Was – No Sigmarines here!) will be beneficial , however we all start somewhere so, I am more than happy to give the crib notes on what the setting is like. Fortunately , WFRP is set in the Empire and the Old World (think central E urope at the beginning of the renaissance) so you won’t need to be versed in the entirety of the lore. The campaign is going to be an investigative one, with players taking the role of a new group within the established city guard of Altdorf, the capitol city of the Empire at this time. Your job will be to h unt down the culprit of a series of murders that have rocked the city, and bring them/it to justice before the people revolt or something catastrophic happens. You will face adversity not just from the potential leads you find, but also from various factions within the hierarchy of the Empire, as not everyone’s agenda is for the good of the populace. There will be a heavy focus on role-playing, so if you’re the kind of player who likes to invest in a backstory and really portray a deep character, then this is going to be right up your alley. OOC comments and chatting will be kept minimal, and rewards will be given for excellent role play. If this sounds like the kind of game you would like to be involved in, please message me on this post or via PM. I look forward to hearing from you, fellow adventurers!
