--- The Setting --- The world was akin to the world we know it, in a time that shared similar technology and countries that were around WW1 and WW2. The world is familiar to our own, but set in an alternate history. The Germans had a party named the Vorherrschaft that controlled their entire country, and intended to seize control of everything around. However, mysteriously, a sudden uprise of events came in to play, beginning with a strange plague. The plague instantly was seen not to be any normal one, as some were turning undead, some were horribly deformed, some horrifically morphed into other unimaginable creatures, while many just died off. Around then, demonic creatures would begin to swarm the entire world, and wipe every country off the map and murder many who still remained alive. This event, named the Great Purge, and the brief nuclear war brought the world to ruins, with only small remnants of life emerging. Some are humans, who either cling on to past ideologies or simply live to survive; some are cursed people or creatures that now find himself searching for a cure or purpose; while some are chthonic beings that remained after the Great Purge, either out to enact each of their lord’s will, or even aimlessly wander these torn lands. --- The Campaign --- The year is 2028, about 89 years since the Great Purge began. Technology and science has remained stagnant, as the world remains wrestled by curse, disease, madness, and demonic creatures. Despite humanity heading towards extinction, battles and wars still wage on, both for necessary and petty reasons alike. Namely, the remnants of the Alliance continue to fight against the sovereign Vorherrschaft. On the horizon, an independent group makes an effort to seize control of a nuclear weapons facility to finally end this war for both sides, at the cost of many lives that humanity cannot spare to lose. Despite the implications, the Alliance and Vorherrschaft refuse to give up their holds or divert their already scattered armies; besides, after all these years, these nuclear weapons aren't bound to work, so it is said. --- OOC Notes --- Inspired by settings such as Metro, Fallout, Bloodborn, and others. The characters will likely be starting out as an independent; meaning that they won't be forced to any side or group, or be taking orders from them. That also means that they will likely meet allies from other sides or beings that they might not agree with; while roleplaying some bigotry is completely fine in game, try not to make the character impossible to connect to or with. I will discuss with the players to see exactly what direction they wish to go in. Please consider before applying: Text Based; The campaign will be text-based. This does NOT mean play-by-post. Mature; Keep in mind that I've set the mature tag since vulgar language, dark concepts (such as death, torture, gore), and so on will exist within the world. However, sexual content will NOT be explicitly roleplayed! Communication is important; Players will be expected to show some level of interest and communication. Any players who shows little, especially none, will be dropped out at my discretion. Fairly Freeform; Players are allowed to add in their own bit of lore, interpretations, and story to help create something unique to them. They're also encouraged to give background information or work with the GM to help create scenes that are personal to them. If you're alright with just being along for the ride, that is fine too. Roleplay, not Rollplay; The mechanics are there to help roleplay rather than slow it down or hinder it. While the choices you make both in roleplay and mechanically do matter, the focus will be more towards interesting characters, interaction, and story. Things will not be discussed OOCly (Out-of-character) if it is an IC (In-character) matter to be discussed. Player Count; I would heavily prefer the game to be about 4 or 5 players large (including GM). However, no more than 6. Other Information: System; Savage Worlds, with some homebrew; is fairly easy to get into as a player. Whether or not you are new or not, I can walk you through character creation. Here is the page with my homebrews: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tq3pWlmE_lIEXKZUyB8-nPoix2HTjMBgb_SY-bPF5yg/edit?usp=sharing Setting; Here is more information about the setting: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZrCOiXUlmfbRrUGeL2qFKjU0mD-s2BDb52HavTCSfCA/edit?usp=sharing Scheduling; The schedule is tentative, but will at LEAST be once per week; more if players are inclined. My own schedule is open to almost every day, at EST from noon to night. Contact; Join in at Discord. If you're accepted as a player, I will give you the role to be able to view the other channels. https://discord.gg/KYckmCt Apply on the LFG, here, PM, or on discord; https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/145709/the-damned-battalion Applications: When applying, please post information such as: [Required] Your timezone and when you are able to play (day/time). Some information about you such as roleplay experience or experience with roll20 in general. How familiar are you with Savage Worlds? Don't worry, we'll accept newcomers and pros alike (as long as they're open minded to homebrew rules). What is your favorite thing about roleplaying? Alternatively, what is your most enjoyable/least enjoyable experiences? If any, which race/being or faction interests you the most? Or, if you have a character idea, go ahead and state it. Otherwise, we can discuss later. (Keep in mind, things may need to be changed around before the game) Any other information you wish to leave. By applying, you accept these rules: Bigotry, racism, sexism, or disrespect of other players is not tolerated. Please PM me rather than bringing it up in public to avoid heated arguments. Understand that in-character behaviors/opinions are not to be taken personally or indicative of the player playing them. However, if I believe the character is being overly offensive for the sake of it or trolling a player, I'll contact the player with a warning or remove them for repeated offenses. Unless explicitly told beforehand (such as family plans, work, etc), any player who gives zero communication for some time will be dropped out (placed in a "Former Player" role, not kicked). Repeated cases can result in being dropped from the game until I'm convinced they are able to make the commitment. If at any point you feel you cannot make the times or aren't enjoying yourself, do not feel pressured to continue on, we will understand. Generally, just follow the golden rule of the universe: Don't be a dick.
