[LFP] Intro to D&D. New Players Welcome and Encouraged [D&D 5E][Wednesday][EST 8:30-11:30ish PM]

Let's play some Dungeons & Dragons! I'm John, and I've been playing D&D and other RPGs for about 25 years. I've done plenty of DMing, and while I love it, real life and adulting has really cut into the time I have to properly run a campaign. However, I really want to play some D&D, and I have always enjoyed introducing people to this wonderful game. So I'm going to do something I haven't done in a long time and run a module that I didn't make. This group will run through the Sunless Citadel module, which is the first adventure in Tales From The Yawning Portal (and a really great adventure to introduce new players to the game.) I'll take on 5 people, and I definitely don't mind people who have never played before (that's actually preferred here.) We'll take our first session to walk through character creation, learn how to use the roll20 character sheet and compendium, and go over some basics. If there's time, we'll play some of our introduction. We'll then take another 3-5 sessions to work through the module and the aftermath. I will walk everyone through the rules of this game, and I will answer questions as we go along. This is designed to introduce the game to new players, including people who have never played at all. Hopefully everyone has a good time and gets to learn something about D&D. After the adventure is complete, I don't know what comes next. Maybe we'll run the next adventure in Tales From The Yawning Portal; maybe we'll disband. We might become a regular group, or I might take a new group of inexperienced players through the adventure again. Maybe real life will let me know that I don't have time to do this. The takeaway here is that I am not signing up for a long term group with this. This is an introduction to the game that will last 3-6 sessions, and after that there are no promises. But something more might happen, maybe. We will be playing Wednesday nights from 8:30PM Eastern US time zone (I can never remember if its EST or EDT at any given time of the year) until about 11:30 or midnight. This group is for everyone, but newbies will be given preference. This is an LGBT friendly group. It's not an LGBT group, but it will welcome everyone. If you are not an LGBT friendly player, you might want to look elsewhere for a group (and maybe look inside yourself for a minute.) Regardless, there will not be any ERP in this. This is listed as 18+, mainly because I swear like a sailor, I might be slightly inappropriate from time to time, and I don't want to have to filter anything. I'm in my late 30s, and I really welcome anyone of adult age to join in. You are never too old to start playing D&D. You're never too young either, but you need to be at least 18 for this group. If you want to join either head over to the listing (https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/147065/intro-to-d-and-d) or reply here. Please give me a little information about yourself. Where are you from? About how old are you? Do you have any D&D experience? Why do you want to play? Most importantly, what kind of character do you think you want to play? If you're so new you don't have any idea of what you would want to play, that's ok, too. We can work with just about anything. Ok, this post is long enough, so that's it. Let me know if you want to play.
Hello! I am Etrizen, a breaking past novice player when it comes to D&D and Roll20 though it's mostly been in a house rule setting with a laid back DM. I'm 22 and come from Southern Florida. My experience with D&D is two short adventures, one incomplete, and a couple sessions into a campaign. I want to play simply because I love the game, I'm enthralled with the experience of freedom it brings while also forging the bonds of teamwork with others. The kind of character I would like to play is a Kenku warlock bound to a Celestial or a Warforged fighter. Thank you for your time in reading this and the possibility of consideration!
This sounds up my alley. I've toyed with DnD rules in various ways for awhile, but I've only recently decided to play the actual game. I like writing in my free time and am the author of a Worm/Gundam fanfic over on Space Battles. I like getting creative juices flowing, especially getting into a character's heads, and actual games of DnD feel like a good new outlet for practicing that. For characters I have some ideas that I've thrown together because lots of LFG's ask for them, but I can honestly say I'm not really committed to any preexisting ideas. I almost think it would be more fun to pick a character last, and build one that can play off the rest of the cast. Or maybe not. It's all new to me.

Hello Matt here and this seems like perfect timing for me. I have played one game on roll 20 and that was about a year and a half ago. I only played one session and my hero met an unfortunate end in my first session and was little discouraging but such is life. Adult life got in the way and wasn't able to get back to playing. However I am trying to get back into now. This seems like a great refreshing opportunity for me. I am not set on any specific character and character creation is one of the parts I like most. I am located in North Carolina (EST) and am in my early 30s play various tabletop and card games as well dabbled a little with 3edition back in my earlier years but was more of a Homebrew relaxed style with some friends. I appreciate you giving this opportunity and look forward to possibly going on this adventure. Sláinte!
This is exactly something I was looking for. I can't say I'm confident on the rules or game play for that matter. I haven't had the pleasure of ever being in a session though I have been extremely interested in playing since I was a kid. Grew up and live in an area that DnD isn't common and makes it hard to find a group so I came to Roll20 after hearing about it in YouTube videos in hopes I would be able to find something. If you don't mind a completely new player I would very much enjoy taking part. I live in Texas, CST time zone, and am open most evenings past 7 but can make openings for an hour or so earlier if needed.
This game is scheduled to begin February 6th, and I will pick the group and let people know Friday night. There is plenty of time to apply, and I don't want anyone to feel like they missed the opportunity to play because they didn't respond to this post in the first 12 hours it was out.
