The Troubles Will Be Over By Morning The Fold's rich and colorful history stretches back over many centuries, covering many grand epochs involving great conflicts, great romances, great comedies, great tragedies, great discoveries, great Highnesses and great tyrants. This recent episode in Widdick is no novelty. Yes, Prince Ornsson perished too young, well before his time, and a usurper from the rabble now fancies himself a new species of ruler in his place. Yes, there is a supposed new sort of dimension to the way Widdick's troops are being organized that has all of the tabloids in a fuss. Yes, we have come a long way in a short time in our modern understanding of arkanide and its applications., and no country appears to have come quite as far along in that understanding as Widdick. There have been many usurpers before, there have been breakthroughs in understanding before, there have been drilling armies before; this burglar of thrones - and no, I shall not grant him the satisfaction of speaking his name - will have fun in The Fold, and then The Fold shall have its own fun with him, and then the world shall largely forget about the things so many thought remarkable after his bones have relaxed in the Earth a season or two. The Queen shall sit on her throne, the sun shall move through the sky and The Fold shall enjoy at least another thousand years of rich and colorful history. Welcome to a D&D 5E Campaign of Political Drama In a continental collection of old states that has always represented the pinnacle of civilization, there is disquiet. Exploitation of a newly understood mineral - arkanide - has begun what some are calling The Arkane Revolution, with those able to access, understand & attune themselves to this resource becoming capable of making possible what had before been the impossible. This has included acts of miraculous healing, demonstrations of titanic strength, leaps in both agricultural and industrial productivity, and - may he rest in peace - the besting of Prince Ornsson of Widdick in a challenge to single combat. The honorableness of the methods of the duel's victor is still in great dispute. Widdick had been in something of an economic panic the past 7 seasons or so, owing perhaps most singularly to the generosity of the royal family whose open feasts were doubtlessly far too well garnished. A commoner with a lame leg and awkward opinions confronted Prince Ornsson as he toured the grounds of a newly opened mill, litigating the matter of Widdick's poor fortunes and daring to offer the prince absolution in a duel. Ornsson, by all accounts, hastily accepted - and why not, his hands were perhaps the deadliest on the continent when behind the guard of a rapier. The prince drew his weapon, and his opponent reportedly (as well as evidently) then burned him down to a neat pile of charred remains with nothing more than an angry gaze. Surely an underhanded move, as no doubt the prince was unaware his opponent was going to wield an arkanide weapon, but the contentious result was ultimately ratified. The rest of The Fold has not been accepting of a commoner taking control of Widdick's affairs, but plans to get the continent back on track have not yet been solidified. Making Your Character We can do this a few ways: If you know what you want & how to create it, go ahead and build yourself a 1st level character. Any race & class are welcome. I'll have a few characters ready-made for the game, and you can pick from those. If you'd like something custom, tell me what kind of character you'd like to play as, and what type of playstyle you typically enjoy, and we can talk to put together something that should be fun for you. Some Ground Rules No PVP combat. In a game with mostly other strangers, I really think this is a poor idea that could ruin people's fun. Please keep focused on the game until the session is over. I appreciate that not everyone is equally engaged during every session (and this is probably less of a problem when playing online), but distracted players take other people out of the experience & can ruin their fun. If you're not feeling engaged on a regular basis, we can talk about how to improve your experience & get you more involved. The Schedule & Tools I intend to run this once a week during the evenings (to accomodate school & work schedules). We'll be using discord to communicate, so you'll need that as well as a mic. Pay to Play & GM Experience I'm hoping to be able to build a career out of this, and that means I do charge for my GMing services. The cost is $12 per month per player, and that will get you at least one 4+ hour session (in a group of 4 players) as well as support in building / developing your character (if people have time, you might get two sessions per month - but at least one 4+ hour session is guaranteed). Payment must be made up front. I'll take either PayPal or an eTransfer (though would encourage use of the former for the sake of your protection). A full refund will be available to you for your first session if you do not feel the experience was worth your money. I've been GMing games on and off for most of my adult life, and probably put the most hours into 4E D&D (my favorite edition, no matter its unpopularity). I've GM'd GURPS, a bit of Traveller, both traditional & homebrew Rifts & TMNT, and for a little while got really into Legend of the Five Rings. I'm a huge Critical Role fanboy, for better or worse, and this is my first foray into GMing for strangers over the Internet. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $12 per month per player, which guarantees at least four 3+ hour sessions. A full refund is available to any player who feels unsatisfied with the experience they recieved. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/4239595/5e-stay-calm-remain-indoors
