The Wastelander Campaign Setting Set two hundred years after a global catastrophe commonly referred to as "The Great Unravelling", players will find their characters in a world slowly becoming alive again in aftermath of a cataclysm that destroyed a high culture based on advanced arcane mastery and insight. Once great cities are infested with gangs (think "Mad Max"), monsters freely roam the wilderness, and the descendants of the original survivors have banded together to form small townships, walled villages, and in some areas feudal states. Against all odds, the heroes of this campaign seek to forge their path as they help the goodly folk of the fallen Alumbian Empire transform a broken world, one step at a time. The adventure begins in the small frontier town of Dougan's Watch, which most recently, is under threat by a well-organized band of renegades called the Switchblades, which have taken up residence in the ruined great city of Crevismere (seen below, prior to its downfall). Dougan's watch stands between the Switchblades and recently uncovered arcane crystals, which in the days before the unravelling, were a key power source for cities and colonies. It is reported that the Switchblades have recently setup a base camp in the mountains near the town, awaiting reinforcements from Crevismere. If Dougan's Watch were to be razed, the Switchblades' hold on the region would grow stronger, and might allow them to harness these new power crystals for their own sinister intentions. If that happens, what might the future look like?
