Looking for players/DM for a Beginner group d&d 3.5

Even newer edit!11 we are full up for now thanks for the interest! NEW EDIT ! IMPORTANT! Goto http://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/2935/temeria-age-of-apothesis which is the campaign our DM is brewing up for us. Here you can apply to join the game etc and check out the time for the 1st Session which will most likely stay the same for the following session! Thanks everyone! Hey everyone, I just joined roll20.net recently and I am about to play my first dungeon crawl soon as James B. has been so kind as to take in a lot of new players and show us the ropes. Anyways, I suppose I should start with the important stuff and I'll end up with the less important stuff.... So! I want to start a group for beginners or people who are returning to d&d and feel a bit like a beginner and if there is the off chance that a sweaty grizzly d&d vet wants to join in and DM (or whoever feels confident enough to DM) well I'd be damned to say no! I want to start a tight knit group (I'd say no more than 4-6 players and one DM , still trying to decide the specifics on that) that plays every week , we start from level 1 . it'll be d&d 3.5 and we progress and learn how to play d&d together as we go along, so having some patience with each other and a desire to have fun and play and learn d&d is instrumental! I would personally love to try my hand at DM'ing but I have still some ways to go before I grasp the systems and rules all together. I am currently still reading the players handbook, so I haven't even started on the Dungeon masters guide. However I will soon enough! :) It would be nice if there were others in the group who'd like to DM and learn how to, so we can take turns at it! As much as I like the idea of DM'ing, I also like the idea of "just" being a player. So far, I got one old friend who used to play a good amount of D&D when he was a kid. But he's not so much a kid anymore and he is pretty rusty albeit when he starts to shake some of that rust off, I am sure he will get into the swing of things a bit faster than some of us absolute beginners might. Personally I only played Sword and Wizardry pen and paper role playing games as a kid and youngster.. I did however make home-brew versions and homemade adventures and I even collaborated with my old friend up there and we made our own role-playing game as young teenagers. At any rate! Please let me know if what I've said grabs your attention and you feel like you would fit in! P.S any vets reading this, if you can direct me to some good starting adventures for new players and/or resources or hints etc. anything ! basically! :) Let me know! I'd appreciate any hints/tips!
sweaty grizzly d&d vet here... I'd be happy to be the startoff DM, maybe make an appropriately leveled character to insert once everyone's up to speed and wants to start alternating. I'm not terribly familiar with the roll20 tabletop system, but I've run campaigns without any visual resources in the past, so some bland scenery design while I'm still getting used to it probably won't kill the mood. I'm also available to offer any sort of specific advice you need with character creation, although I don't suggest using the starting adventures/premade resources as they remove some of the necessary creativity of the game.
I'm an intermediate D&D player and would like to join this game if possible. I just need to know date and time to prepare. :)
Hey Jimmy, I've only been playing Pathfinder (D&D 3.5) for three weeks. But I'd love to join! I hosted a few home games already. So, when I get a bit more of experience under my belt I'd love to DM a few sessions :)
Hey man, I've not played for a long time, 2nd edition! Just read about this site in PC gamer, I'd really like to get back into it, I guess I'm a grizzly returning beginner, I have access to 3.5 rules, would love to DM once I get back into the flow of things, I'm in GMT. DVP
Brilliant, timing's good for me, I'm looking forward to it, I'll run my eyes over the 3.5 players manual, I'm good for creation unless Andrew has any particular rules he'd like us to follow in creation, or beyond.... (Too much?). DVP
I'm sorry. I'm such a novice when it comes to time zones. Is !8:00 GMT = 1:00 pm eastern U.S. time? Btw, feel free to laugh at me :)
Chris (can I call you Chris?) It's now 9pm GMT, I'm thinking you're 4pm? Ha laugh at me now, yes you're right, -5 hours
Awesome! I'm looking forward to it! And yes, you can call me Chris. Thanks again!
Oh! and btw.. I don't know about you guys but I was going to take use of audio communication during our sessions.. I don't have a webcam atm else I'd supply a video feed of my infernal mug as well.. (Ill look into that though, i need a webcam anyway for other stuff as well) but but but.. Word on the forums is that the builtin audio/video feed through roll20 is a big laggy and dodgy.. and its recommended to use skype instead for that part of it.. which is fine with me! But what do you guys say? I don't have much personal experience to draw from so I couldn't say!

I'll let you know as soon as we sort that out! Awesome. Oh wait...3 pm EST is actually a bad time for me because that's when I usually start working on most days. Unless if I have off that day at work I may not be able to play with you guys.

Not very sweaty nor am I grizzled but i would be interested in playing. Since this sounds like its going to be a bit of a dungeon crawl I'll go for a melee combat class Just a quick question, will you allow templates (Its where you pretty much extend what your race can do, by taking away class levels) and/or non-standard races (Humans, elves, dwarves, ect.)
GM popping in here. I've looked at my schedule and I'm thinking the game would work better at 12 EST anyway, which is what Jimmy suggested in the first place. Templates and nonstandard races are probably okay, but I'd prefer if you ran them by me first. If you're interested in joining, pm me a character description and I'll see if I can work you in.. to avoid getting the whole bloated playerlist thing that most roll20 games suffer from I'll be accepting players based on whether or not they'll add something interesting to the personality of the group (not looking for five joe the fighters essentially). also, if your pet character is a cleric or paladin or otherwise divinely inclined character, be warned the deities are completely re-hauled, so don't get attached to any particular church.
Hey guys. Not sure if you guys still have space or would be interested in having me, but I'd be interested in joining up. I'm new to D&D though I've always been curious about it. I just read about roll20 in pc gamer and though I would check it out. I'd have no clue as to what I'm doing and would need a bit of help. I have no problem doing some reading up if needed and am happy to learn and accept advice and guidance.
could I join? I have been playing D&D for a while now, but I am new to roll20
I can't view them. I click and it says its "Not Authorized"
yep, same problem as leslie.
Ah okay. Let me post the information he wrote in the threads here then (Ill let him know in the meanwhile): Temeria: Age of Apothesis This game is set in the homebrew world of Temeria. In most respects it is identical to the default world described by the players handbook/dm's guide, but it deviates in a few select ways: 1. Shatterstorms : In the aftermath of the divine war that characterized the age of strife, the world was literally split through the core in a great cataclysm. While stable chunks of land still made up the majority of Temeria, they are divided by great chasms filled with floating debris, some chunks large enough to support small villages, others tiny knife-like shards whirling in the entropic currents. A portion of the massive divine energy exerted in the cataclysm still lingers in the chasms, making them dangerous to cross and having unpredictable effects on magic, so most stay away from them. 2. Civilized vs Savage Races : Humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings for the most part live in isolated, often xenophobic communities far away from the shatterstorms. Orcs, Half Orcs, Gnolls, and Fey live on the fringes of the shatterstorm in loose, nomadic settlements. Though they do sometimes intermingle, it is relatively uncommon. The civilized races in the area in which the campaign takes place are mainly ruled by the Council of Lords, a bureaucratic force that claimed power in the power vacuum following the overthrow of the monarchy about twenty years earlier. The savage races claim only tribal rulers, though there are rumors of a secret society that controls the offshoot tribes indirectly. 3. Deities : The pantheon in the 3.5 PHB is completely nonexistent, replaced instead by the following system: Punishment twins : Preside over the judgement of rebels and dissidents. Daeva : The lawmaker, punishes those who commit minor crimes and misdemeanors. Her worshipers are often in charge of policing port cities in civilized zones. Lawful Neutral. Favored Weapon: quarterstaff. Domains: Law and Water. Morda : The nightmare, a sort of divine pit-bull that hunts down and punishes only those who attempt to change the fundamental order of the world. His worshipers are a secret cult that live in the shadows, hoping to become his living agents. Chaotic Evil. Favored Weapon: Spiked Chain. Domains: Evil and Fire. War Twins : Preside over war and warriors Caer: The empress, seeks power through violence. Her worshipers have few churches, instead making worship by dominating others. Lawful Evil. Favored Weapon: Heavy Mace. Domains: Destruction and Earth. Bosmir : The crusader, makes war for those who are in danger. Her worshipers are warrior priests, often wandering as knights errant. Lawful Good. Favored Weapon: Longsword. Domains: Good and War. Knowledge Twins : Preside over knowledge known and secrets forgotten. Gallian : The scholar, master of all knowledge and learning. His worshipers are wizards and archivists. Neutral Good. Favored Weapon: Glaive. Domains: Knowledge and Magic. Sylph : The listener, master of secret knowledge. Her worshipers are often spies and others concerned with subterfuge. True Neutral Favored Weapon: Rapier. Domains: Air and Trickery. Eternal Twins : Preside over life and death. Etain : The healer, creates life and extends it. Her worshipers are doctors and midwives or others who concern themselves with public health. Neutral Good. Favored Weapon: Battleaxe. Domains: Sun and Healing. Dormur : The reaper, ends life when the time comes. He has few worshipers, mostly executioners and undertakers, or those of morbid persuasion. Neutral Evil. Favored Weapon: Scythe. Domains: Death and Protection. The Agent of Change : Created to end the Age of Strife, not given a twin to avoid making change a dominant force in Temeria. Pokytis : The jester, holds the unenviable job of presiding over change and chaos, a force hated and feared by the other divines. His worshipers are warrior revolutionaries, and are often persecuted mercilessly by worshipers of other gods, particularly Daeva and Morda. Chaotic Neutral. Favored Weapon: Greatsword. Domains: Chaos and Strength. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post, if you have any questions/homebrew races for approval, ask away. Also he asks us to post any questions we have about creating our characters!
I recommend you guys start making chars and asking questions..use mythweavers for uploading your sheets ! You can PM him your character desc. include them here or in the sheet! Andrew our DM will pick the characters and the people he think will fit in best in our group, max 5 people! So ask him questions for help to create the chars and so on.. I am still a novice but if anyone is a beginner like me and is totally lost, let me know! Maybe we can help each other out, Im starting to get a little bit hang of it. :)
what day would it be? I am unable to play Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays. so if it is on one of those days I will be unable to join.
well, if you find out for sure please let me know.
alright, finally done blenderizing the details on the campaign. for anyone interested in joining, here's the LFG link. Make sure you include a short character description in your application
Are you guys interested in playing Next instead of 3.5? If so I'll gladly be a PC.

I am interested in joining this game, but as a complete beginner, I do not know go about creating a character and such. Also, what time-zone is this in?
Hey Lydia, you can PM me or talk to the DM Andrew R about character creation! I am only a novice in D&D but I can give you a few pointers.. The time is 6PM GMT+1 converted to EST 12PM, 1st session is a Sunday and will probably continue to have our sessions on sundays!
