Drawable light sources and Dimmable global lighting

I was thinking  bout how I wanted to add lighting to a starship corridor and the most fitting idea would be light bars along the sides of the corridor. Unfortunately there is no such thing. Instead I have to build it using many different light sources which would caues all sorts of problem. The next idea I had was maybe I could use some sort of dimmable global light, alas that doesn't exist yet either.
